2018 Holden Equinox

The 2018 Holden Equinox is a completely new model that comes for the Australian market. After many years, the company will have a competitive model in the segment of compact SUVs. The old Daewoo-designed Captiva will remain for several months until new seven-seater Acadia arrives.

The new crossover will come with plenty of latest technologies. It is a completely new model from GM, which will be pretty much the same model as third-generation Equinox, although there will still be some unique Holden details on it.

The new model will go on sale in early 2018, and it will come with several engines in the offer and a completely new design. This is a completely imported model. Its production is set in Canada, along with the North American Chevrolet Equinox. The 2018 Equinox will finally replace more than a decade old Captiva, and there are big expectations from the new model.

2018 Holden Equinox redesign

The 2018 Holden Equinox is a completely new model in Australia. The company will finally have a decent competitor in a hot segment of small crossovers. The new model is basically a third-generation Chevy Equinox. It features pretty much the same design, including same platform, styling, interior design etc. It rides on a D2XX platform, same that Holden already uses for models like Astra or Cruze. This platform brings many benefits in terms of drive quality. The new model will finally be competitive with models like Toyota Rav4 or Hyundai Tucson.

Compared to the outgoing Captiva, we will see significant improvements in all aspects. First of all, the comfort will be on a much higher level. We will also see much better performances, especially when it comes to efficiency. The new 2018 Holden Equinox comes with the new generation of engines, with more power and better economy.

2018 Holden Equinox features

Although company keeps more precise details as a secret, we can make a pretty much clear image of the new 2018 Holden Equinox. The first thing that you will notice is a completely new, very attractive styling. The new model features pretty much identical styling as the new, third-generation Equinox from Chevy. Dimensions and shape are completely the same, as well as a design language. The biggest difference is Holden’s badge and slightly different front fascia.

The interior design is also pretty much the same. The 2018 Holden Equinox features identical cabin, with the same dashboard design. There are hi-quality materials and a long list of equipment. The exact list of standard features is still unknown, but we can expect things like dual-zone climate control, a large touchscreen in the center, 6-speaker audio system and many advanced active safety systems.

2018 Holden Equinox engines

The 2018 Holden Equinox will come with three engines in the offer. Base models will feature a familiar 1.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine, which will for this occasion feature a max output of 170 horsepower. An optional engine is a 2.0-liter unit, which is good for about 250 horses.

If you are for some more economic variant, there will be also a diesel version in the offer. This model will feature a 1.6-liter engine, which has a max output of 135 horses. The company didn’t announce exact torque numbers at the moment.

When it comes to the transmission, all engines will come with the new 9-speed automatic gearbox. Base models will feature FWD layout, while AWD will be optional.

2018 Holden Equinox release date and price

We still didn’t get a more precise launch date, but the new 2018 Holden Equinox should hit the market early next year. When it comes to the price, we don’t have the exact numbers. However, if we consider that the North American Equinox goes 24.000 US dollars, this version, in its base variant, could cost somewhere between 32.000 and 34.000 Australian dollars. Competition in this segment is pretty tough. There are models like Toyota Rav4, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson and many others.
