The upcoming 2018 Peugeot 5008 is a stylish SUV that comes with good safety features and satisfying ride experience. Upon release, it will lock horns with rivals like Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V.

There is no doubt the SUV segment in the automobile industry is witnessing massive growth and no carmaker can afford to ignore this trend. However, the French car manufacturer Peugeot is not in the mood to let the rivals like GM, Ford and Nissan have all the fun.

The design of 2018 Peugeot 5008 is bold and enticing. On first look, it seems clearly inspired by smaller sibling 3008. The aerodynamic design is rugged and it gets more interesting towards the back side. You get also the three-claw LED lights and a rear spoiler. It is available in a few trims- GT, GT Line, Allure and Active. Allure trims get dark tinted rear windows. It is 19 cm longer than the 3008, overall.

The cabin is impressive and oozes an aura of style and sophistication. The 12.3-inch digital instrument display and an eight-inch capacitive touch screen lend it an avant garde look. The three rows of seats can accommodate 7 passengers and leg space is good- more so in 2nd row. Cargo space is superb and second row has folding and tilting seats- 3 of them.

There is also plenty of space to store your gadgets and beverage bottles in the cabin. Its center console is quite big. Across all trims, the material quality is also good and in Allure trim, things reach near luxury car levels.

Safety 

There is no denying the 2018 Peugeot 5008 is a lavishly adorned SUV. It scores very well on safety front as well. The infotainment system is sleek but does not quite match Ford’s Sync 3 setup. The cabin is devoid of clutter and all infotainment functions are controlled by the touchscreen.

The GT trim gets soft Nappa leather seats, 19-inch alloy wheels and Full LED headlamps. It can be laden with two packages. Pack City 2 adds rear parking sensors, park assist, rear-view camera while the Pack Drive assist brings in Front Collision Warning.

All trims also get safety features like six airbags, tyre pressure sensors, lane departure warning, and driver attention alert, automatic emergency braking. Allure trim gets Active Blind Spot Detection, PEUGEOT Smartbeam Assistance. Adaptive cruise control is optional.

2018 Peugeot 5008 – Comes with Few Engine Variants

The new Peugeot 5008 is powered by a range of gasoline and diesel engines. There are a couple of turbocharged petrol engines a 1.2-litre unit with 130 HP and a 1.6-litre PureTech with 165 HP.

The first diesel options is a 1,6-liter BlueHDI that will come with two version 100 HP and 120 HP. The second one is powerful one 2.0 BlueHDI that comes with 150 or 180 HP. Irrespective of what engine you choose- ride quality is not what you call sporty. However, it is focused more on comfort.

The 2018 Peugeot 5008 is equipped with a technology called Advanced Grip Control-but it is optional on select trims. It is equivalent to driving modes found in its Japanese and European rivals. There are modes like sand and snow, for example.
