The premium carmaker is expanding its offer with the new range-topping crossover that will come in late 2018, as 2019 Audi Q8. We have already seen a preview of this car in a form of a concept, but there are now few test models spotted on test rides.
This crossover will be a completely new vehicle from Audi and it will stand on the top of the brand’s offer. Just like it was expected, it will be a sporty, coupe-like version of the large Q7. Compared to its odd-numbered relative, it will come with a sportier shape and will several unique details in terms of styling.
The interior design will feature a high level of luxury, just like all large models from the brand. On the other side, engine lineup will be pretty much the same as form the Q7 model, with familiar units from the VW Group.
2019 Audi Q8 design
The 2019 Audi Q8 will be a completely new vehicle from the brand. It will be a new range-topping model, closely related to the large Q7 crossover. These two models will share the same version of the familiar MLB platform, but a little different body style. The new 2019 Q8 will come with a coupe-like, sportier profile. It will be less practical, but more stylish than the familiar Q7 SUV.
We are about to see even some changes at the front, which will make this crossover a little bit more exclusive. For example, there is a new, more pronounced grille. The new model will also feature a brand’s new headlight design, which includes a teardrop detail, first seen on the new A4 sedan. These new details will definitely make 2019 Audi Q8 more stylish. However, it is still questionable will this be enough to single out the new model.
2019 Audi Q8 interior design
Although new 2019 Audi Q8 is still in testing phase and completely camouflaged, we managed to get some spy photos that show us how the new interior will look like. From these pictures, we can clearly see that the new crossover will feature pretty similar cabin to the flagship A8 sedan. There is an elegant two-panel dashboard, while one of the most interesting characteristics is a massive use of glossy black surfaces. The new model combines digital and analog controls. For example, there is a large touchscreen at the center of the dashboard. But, you will also find classic buttons and knobs for climate control right below it. Besides these stylish design solutions, we will also see plenty of latest technologies that will provide better safety and more convenient ride.
2019 Audi Q8 engine
The new 2019 Audi Q8 will come with familiar engines from the VW Group. For the North American market, base models will most likely feature a familiar 3.0-liter Turbo V6 unit. It has a max output of 354 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The same engine will be also available in combination with an electric motor.
We have already seen this hybrid powertrain in the last-year concept version. It features a max output of 442 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
Hi-performance versions are also expected. Both S and RS versions are about to come. The first one will feature a familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 diesel engine, the same that is in use for SQ7. It has a max output of 429 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque. The RS version will probably come with a 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine, which will feature even more power.
2019 Audi Q8 release date and price
The 2019 Audi Q8 will most likely hit the market in late 2018. The new model will come in Europe first. So, there is a big chance to see a North American version in early 2019, as the 2020 year model.
When it comes to price, it is still early to make some more precise predictions. However, some experts suggest around 5.000 dollars more, compared to the current Q7 models.
