2019 BMW X4

The 2019 BMW X4 is coming with several novelties. The first generation of this sporty crossover is present for some time and now it turns for some updates.

Unlike its rivals, BMW completed its lineup with coupe-like crossovers much earlier. For example, this model is present since 2014. It even appeared one year earlier in a concept show, but we must say that this version wasn’t much different compared to the current production model. However, new rivals are coming so the company wants to make this premium crossover fresher.

For this occasion, we are about to see several changes. Most of them will be visual, but we also expect to see some novelties inside. On the other side, engine lineup will continue in the pretty much same way. So far, we didn’t manage to get official information about release date, but all reports suggest first half of next year.

2019 BMW X4 changes

Just like all mid-cycle refreshes, most of the changes will be in terms of styling. The 2019 BMW X4 will not be an exception. We are about to see new details on both ends of the cars. Although the new model is still under a camouflage and company tries to hide those new details, some photographers managed to make photos that expose some of the changes. On those photos, we can clearly see that the company has prepared a completely new rear end.

There is a completely new design of taillights, which is sharper for a bit. Also, designers moved a license table spot to the rear bumper, under the tailgate. Besides these changes at the rear end, we also expect to see various changes at the front, on parts such as headlights, front bumper etc. We could also see some new color options, as well as new wheels design.

2019 BMW X4 interior design

The interior of 2019 BMW X4 should also come with some changes. These mid-cycle updates are mostly about new visual appearance, but changes inside the cabin are pretty often too. We doubt that the Bavarian carmaker is going to make some bigger modification for this occasion, but some tweaks are quite possible. The base interior design will definitely remain, but some new details on the dashboard are possible.

We could see some reconfiguration of buttons, as well as some new color schemes. This update is also a chance for manufacturers to introduce some new technologies. So, it is quite possible to see some new system in the 2019 BMW X4. This should be something in terms of driver-assist features and safety, but some new entertainment stuff is also very welcome.

2019 BMW X4 engines

After all these details about the exterior and interior design, it is time to say something about powertrain. The 2019 BMW X4 will continue with the same engine lineup as the current model.

So, base models will feature a familiar 2.0-liter gasoline engine with a max power of 181 horses and 199 pound-feet of torque. The same engine is also available in the variant with 242 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

When it comes to diesel units, there is a 2.0-liter engine with 187 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The bigger 3.0-liter V6 is available in two output levels, with 254 and 309 horsepower.

All engines come with either 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. A hi-performance M version with 355 horsepower is also available.

2019 BMW X4 release date and price

The 2019 BMW X4 will most likely hit the market somewhere in the second half of next year. Before that, we will probably see a premiere somewhere in early 2018. Price should remain the same, which means around 46.000 dollars. A number of potential competitors are big, but arch-rival will remain the same. It is a coupe-like version of Mercedes’s compact crossover, which is known as GLC Coupe.
