2019 BMW X6 Redesign and Changes

According to latest reports, we can expect an update for the 2019 BMW X6. The original coupe crossover started a completely new era in SUV segment almost ten years ago.

The original model came in 2008, with a pretty revolutionary design, which is something very unusual for German carmakers. The model instantly attracted all those sporty-oriented SUV lovers, so many manufacturers tried with similar design philosophy but none of them managed to gain the same success. The first generation of this crossover was produced until 2014 when we saw a complete redesign. The second generation features even better characteristics, but the company wants to secure a leading position in the market.

For this occasion, 2019 X6 will receive various novelties. It will be a classic mid-cycle refresh, which will include visual changes, as well as interior updates. Because of an update, it should come a little bit earlier than usual.

2019 BMW X6 Changes

It is usually easy to predict changes for these kinds of updates. So, we can imagine how the new version of the famous coupe crossover will look like, although there is still no official information about this refresh. Most of the changes will be visual nature. The company will do several tweaks on the body, which make 2019 BMW X6 more attractive and fresh until the complete redesign. However, don’t expect some bigger modifications.

This company usually doesn’t make bigger changes during the production cycle, so will probably see some smaller tweaks at the front, while the rest of the car will remain pretty much the same. The 2019 BMW X6 will probably get updated headlights and tweaked grille, but there is a chance to see some changes at the rear end as well. Some reports suggest that this update will bring new taillights and some other tweaks.

Features

The 2019 BMW X6 will probably also come with some new standard features, but the base structure of trim levels will remain the same. Base models will come with features like 19-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable and heated front seats etc. There are also things like a new 10.2-inch touchscreen, navigation, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity etc. Higher trims include standard features like four-zone climate control, 20-way multi-contour front seats with adjustments for the shoulder and thigh bolsters, 16-speaker premium audio system, satellite radio and many other things.

The 2019 BMW X6 will also come with a full load of safety features. Some of the highlights are blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, a forward collision warning, and mitigation system with pedestrian detection, a rearview camera, side- and top-view parking cameras, and a night-vision system that’s also able to detect pedestrians.

Engine Options

This update probably won’t bring changes in terms of powertrain. The 2019 BMW X6 will continue with the same three gasoline units in the offer.

The base model will feature a famous 3.0-liter inline-six unit. It is good for about 305 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The optional 4.4-liter V8 is good for about 450 horses and 480 pound-feet of torque. This engine also powers a high-performance M version, but in that case, it comes with much more power. It is tuned up to 575 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque.

For the European market, there are also three variants of the familiar 3.0-liter diesel engine. The base version outputs around 255. A mid-range around 310, while the most powerful version of this engine is good for about 380 horsepower. All engines come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Release Date and Price

The 2019 BMW X6 will probably come earlier than usual, which means somewhere in the third quarter of the next year. We don’t expect changes in price, so it should go in a range between 63.000 and 79.000 dollars.

Competition is tough, but main rivals will be models like Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne etc.

BMW X6 Redesign

According to information from the German site www.autozeitung.de, the third generation of the BMW X6 will appear on the market in 2021. We expect a lot of technical novelties in the third generation as well as laser lights. This site also announces that this ultra luxurious BMW SUV will be significantly lighter and the drive will be semi-autonomously.

BMW plans to reduce the weight of the third-generation X6 model below 2100 kilograms. They announce that this is possible with a combination of aluminum, steel and carbon fiber.
