2018 Ford Excursion Price

After great reception of new F-Series, it looks like the company is going to bring back a highly capable SUV, as 2018 Ford Excursion. To remind you, this model had a pretty short life. It was in production for only six years, between 1999 and 2005. The whole idea was to offer a highly-capable SUV, which will match Ford’s Super Duty trucks. After initial success, sales were rapidly going slower.

After many years, the company has an idea to bring back this model. In the current lineup, there is a famous Expedition as a flagship model. This should be some kind of a stretched version, with a longer wheelbase and, more important, better working characteristics. Just like in Super Duty truck, we expect to find large V8 units under the hood. This includes a diesel engine as well. Latest reports suggest that the new 2018 Excursion could come already this year.

Although basically an all-new model, the 2018 Ford Excursion should come with familiar characteristics. Just like the rest of Ford’s full-size trucks and SUVs, this one will also utilize new architecture. To remind you, the company has designed a new platform, which includes some revolutionary solutions, at least when it comes to utility vehicles. Most of the new SUV will be made of extra-light materials, such as aluminum and HSS. So, we expect some massive weight savings.

The biggest problem with the original Excursion was its huge weight, which caused poor fuel economy. This time, we expect to see a highly efficient SUV, which will feature both excellent performances and good economy. In the mechanical aspect, the new 2018 Ford Excursion will have most in common with the F-250 Super Duty series. This includes not only chassis but the same engine lineup as well.

2018 Ford Excursion engines

Like we mentioned, the new 2018 Ford Excursion should come with the same engines in an offer as F-250. This means that the new SUV will be available in diesel version as well.

The base model, though, will feature a gasoline powertrain. It is a familiar 6.2-liter V8, which has a max output of 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. With such amount of power, the new SUV will be very quick. It should be able to reach 60 in less than 7 seconds, while a top speed will definitely go over 120 miles per hour. Also, the new SUV will be highly-capable. Max towing capacity with this engine should go around 15.000 pounds.

If you need those crazy towing number, the real deal comes with the optional 6.7-liter diesel engine. With stupendous 925 pound-feet of torque, this version should be good for 18.000 pounds of a max towing capacity.

Besides all amazing characteristics, the new 2018 Ford Excursion will be a great-looking SUV too. We still don’t know the exact details, but we can presume that the new model will have much in common with the famous Expedition. However, we are pretty sure that the new model will feature the same or very similar front end to F-250. We believe that the company needs to accentuate its excellent working capabilities and this is a perfect way.

2018 Ford Excursion interior

On the other side, interior design should be more comfort-oriented. Compared to Super Duty truck, we expect to see better materials and much more equipment. In this aspect, the new 2018 Ford Excursion should stand somewhere between Expedition and F-250. Compared to Expedition, a list of standard features should be even more impressive, including latest technologies in terms of safety and driver assistance.

2018 Ford Excursion release date and price

Although the new 2018 Ford Excursion is yet to be confirmed, various reports suggest new SUV could come already this year. Some reports suggest a base price around 55.000 dollars.
