The newest 2018 SsangYong Rexton, based on the LIV-2 Concept and showcased at the 2017 Paris Motor show will be lighter than its previous model. There is no doubt over the fact that the car is going to be a class-leading contender. Although the SsangYong Rexton will be manufactured locally including paint jobs and welding parts, however, having said that; the company side by side has also confirmed that the body panels and powertrain will be imported from Korean suppliers.
Although Mahindra launched the SsangYong Rexton in India in the year 2012, it was a rather forgetful experience for them in more ways than one. The SsangYong Rexton has been unveiled at the 2017 Seoul Motor Show earlier in this year. Being an authentic and new SUV, the car is all set to re-establish the company’s brand internationally and set its reputation alive once more as a premium SUV manufacturer.
2018 SsangYong Rexton – Attractive Design
The design is indeed contemporary and attractive. The new design on display is inspired by nature and is dubbed as ‘dignified motion’. It has now got projector headlamps having LED daytime running lamps (DRLs). Also, there is LED fog and cornering lamps and a slim hexagonal grille alongside being equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels.
The 2018 SsangYong Rexton boasts of carrying five occupants and accommodating four golf bags in simultaneity. Although internationally it is going to be a five-seater car, however, for India, there are chances that there would be the option of a seven-seater version also.
The 2018 SsangYong Rexton comes with a plethora of features. It includes a 9.2-inch HD screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity options, 7.0-inch LCD instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, auto door locking, smart tailgate, cooled seats wrapped in Nappa leather. The car would also be endowed and equipped with top-notch safety features such as nine airbags and others.
2018 SsangYong Rexton – Engine Specifications
The new model 2018 SsangYong Rexton comes with a powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine. This engine will churn out a modest 187hp and leverages 420Nm of torque. However, it is also expected to get optional 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged gas engine. It will come with an 8-speed automatic. In this moment there is no more information about acceleration and fuel economy that will have.
2018 SsangYong Rexton – Price and Launch Date
The 2018 SsangYong Rexton is all set to be launched in India from the latter half of 2018. However, if things go all well the car is scheduled to be first released in Korea. Keeping the price within range would no doubt be a challenge of sorts for Mahindra. And although no official report has yet been shared as to what could be the exact price of the car, however, it is speculated that the cost of the car would hover around the $24.000.
