It’s no secret that the famous carmaker from Ingolstadt is expanding its lineup with the brand-new crossover called Q8, but latest reports suggest we are about to see its hi-performance, 2019 Audi RS Q8 version as well. The company is finally entering the so-called coupe-crossover segment, established by BMW many years ago.
It is not hard to guess that Q7 served as a basis for the creation of this model. It is pretty much the same relation as between BMW’s odd and even numbers in the designation. The new Q8 will come with a sporty, a little bit rounded end of the roofline, which will provide that coupe-like shape. On the other side, its hi-performance version will come with additional modification. We are about to so see several new parts in 2019 Audi RS Q8, not the just new engine, but plenty of visual details, as well as some other mechanical upgrades.
2019 Audi RS Q8 redesign
Speaking of base design characteristics, we won’t see bigger differences between base models and 2019 Audi RS Q8. It will come with the same construction, riding on the same architecture and featuring the same overall shape.
On the other side, expect to see a bunch of mechanical upgrades that will provide better performances. Besides the new engine, 2019 Audi RS Q8 will also come with chassis tunings, which will include things like new suspension, brakes etc. Compared to standard models, we will see lower ground clearance, in order to provide a lower center of gravity.
2019 Audi RS Q8 styling
Styling changes are always easier to notice compared to mechanical upgrades. For this occasion, the company will offer a lot of new details. On the other side, the overall shape will remain unchanged. We are about to see the same look as in base models but upgraded with a bunch of minor tweaks.
First of all, there is a new grille design, as well as a new front bumper, which comes with larger air intakes. From the side, you can notice bigger wheels with new rim design, as well as bigger fenders. The rear end of 2019 Audi RS Q8 will also get a bit of treatment, with a new bumper and exhaust tips. Also, expect to see a lot of aluminum trim around the crossover, as well as new lighting. All these modifications will provide the even more attractive look, with accentuated sporty details that give that aggressive stance.
2019 Audi RS Q8 interior design
The interior design is also about to get a few novelties, though the core is about to remain the same. The new Q8 takes A8’s cabin as an inspiration. We can clearly see the same approach, which includes a lot of long horizontal lines, which are providing that premium feel.
The new 2019 Audi RS Q8 will be very refined in this aspect, as we can presume the same level of quality as in A8 sedan. Besides the premium quality of materials, the new crossover will also come with a bunch of tech features. This will include multiple touchscreens and other multimedia features. The performance version will spice the things for a bit, offering a lot of aluminum trim, racing steering wheel, new instrument cluster etc.
2019 Audi RS Q8 engine
Finally, a few words about the core of 2019 Audi RS Q8. It is pretty much certain that this version will use a familiar 4.0-liter V8 engine. However, we are not so sure about the more precise numbers in terms of power. This engine can be found in Lamborghini Urus. This version delivers more than 650 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. While some experts think that the same version is about to come in the new 2019 Audi RS Q8, others believe that Audi’s performance version will feature rather lower output numbers, probably around 500 horses.
Still, if the company decides to install a more powerful variant, with 650 horses, there is no doubt that the new 2019 Audi RS Q8 will be able to go from zero to sixty in about 3.5 seconds. On the other side, this would also mean that Urus will probably be getting a new, even more, powerful variant, to justify its probably much higher price tag.
2019 Audi RS Q8 release date and price
The 2019 Audi RS Q8 is expected to come right after the launch of new Q8 and S Q8 models. That would probably mean sometime in the next year. Estimated price goes around 130.000 dollars, though it could vary. When it comes to competition, the Audi RS Q8 will join BMW X6 and Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe in this mid-size coupe-crossover segment.
