2019 Chevy Suburban Diesel, Changes

The 2019 Chevy Suburban will most likely be the last year model of the current generation. Those are latest reports about one of the most iconic models from Chevrolet. This long-wheelbase full-size SUV is present for more than eight decades.

The original model came way back in 1930’s, while the current model is present since 2013. The eleventh generation came with plenty of novelties but if we consider model’s usual production cycle, the next generation could come as the 2020 year model.

So, the 2019 Suburban will probably come without bigger changes. It will continue with a familiar design, which includes the same styling, interior, engines etc. However, there is a chance to see a new 10-speed automatic transmission standard for all trims. Besides transmission, we could see several other novelties, such as new infotainment system and few new exterior and interior colors. Expect to see it in late 2018.

2019 Chevy Suburban changes

As we already mentioned, the 2019 Chevy Suburban will continue without more important changes. The famous SUV will continue to ride on the extended version of GM’s familiar GMT K2 platform. This platform is also in use for the GMC Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade. These three models share pretty much the same mechanical characteristics. Moreover, a relation with Yukon XL is much closer. Each of these two models features its own front end look, but from A-pillars to the rear end, everything is pretty much the same. Just like we mentioned, the 2019 Chevy Suburban will come with some smaller updates.

However, the base design will remain the same. Changes in styling are not expected, but we could see some new exterior colors in the offer. The same thing will happen inside. We could see few new color schemes, but the rest of the cabin will remain the same.

2019 Chevy Suburban features

Even the list of standard features should remain pretty much the same. The biggest novelty will probably be the introduction of all-new MyLink infotainment system. The base LS model will come with standard features like 18-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, smartphone integration, six-speaker audio system with satellite radio etc. A mid-range LT will include all of the above and add standard features like heated bucket seats, leather upholstery, power liftgate, nine-speaker Bose audio system etc.

Finally, there is a Premier trim, which adds 20-inch wheels, xenon headlights, an adaptive Magnetic Ride Control suspension, ventilated front seats, a navigation system, upgraded power-adjustable front seats, wireless charging pad, 10-speaker premium Bose surround-sound audio system etc. Also, there is a whole bunch of optional packages and standalone feature in the offer for each trim level.

2019 Chevy Suburban engines and driving

The 2019 Chevy Suburban will continue with the same powertrain. There is a familiar 5.3-liter V8 unit, which delivers around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. So far, this engine was usually available with a 6-speed automatic transmission, but several reports suggest that the new 10-speed gearbox will become a standard feature in all trim levels. With such huge amount of power and torque, it is no wonder that this large and heavy SUV moves so quickly. It needs around 7.2 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. Braking is also on a high level, around 131 feet from 60 to 0. When it comes to off-road characteristics, an extra-long wheelbase is an obvious limit for some better characteristics. Average fuel economy goes around 15 mpg in the city and 22 on a highway.

2019 Chevy Suburban release date and price

The 2019 Chevy Suburban should come somewhere in the third quarter of the next year. We don’t expect changes in price. So, base models will go around 51.000 dollars while best-equipped versions could go all away up to 70.000 dollars.

Competition in the segment is tough. There are models like Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia, Nissan Armada, Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes-Benz GLS etc.
