2019 GMC Terrain Denali, Review

After the last-year complete overhaul, we are pretty sure that the new 2019 GMC Terrain will come without bigger changes. The original version of this crossover dates from 2010. The company introduced a successor for the outgoing mid-size Envoy. The new crossover became pretty popular quite quickly, but the company decided to make some radical changes. So, the second generation came in 2017. This isn’t a classic redesign. The new model comes with some core changes.

Compared to the original, the second generation is quite smaller. It comes with a shorter wheelbase, so it is now a compact crossover, along with its mechanical twin brother Chevy Equinox. The new generation is still pretty fresh, so there is no need for some bigger changes. The 2019 Terrain will continue in the same way, featuring only some minor tweaks. We expect to see a new model in the second half of next year.

2019 GMC Terrain redesign

The 2019 GMC Terrain will keep same design characteristics. A new generation of this SUV came with plenty of novelties. This model now rides a familiar D2 platform that company uses for various models, including Equinox. These two models are pretty much identical in the mechanical aspect. On the other side, each car comes with its own styling. The 2019 GMC Terrain will feature the same exterior look, but there are few interesting additions. For example, there could be some new color options, as well as some new interior schemes.

Speaking of the interior, things will the same. There is a familiar cabin design, full of hi-quality features and standard features. In terms of equipment, the organization will remain the same.

2019 GMC Terrain features

The 2019 GMC Terrain is expected to continue in the same SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali trim levels. The base SL comes with standard features like cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rearview camera. There are also standard features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth, smartphone integration, 6-speaker audio system etc. The SLE comes with several nice additions. There are things like an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a compact spare tire and a handful of interior trim-piece upgrades.

When it comes to the SLT, there is a significant improvement. Standard features are things like leather upholstery, low-speed forward collision warning, and mitigation with automatic braking, lane departure warning and intervention, and automatic high beams. Finally, the Denali comes with unique styling cues and interior trim. It also adds standard features like 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, and many others.

2019 GMC Terrain engines

There are three engines in the offer. Base models come with a new 1.5-liter turbo inline-four engine. This unit is good for about 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque.

However, the real deal comes with an optional 2.0-liter unit. This engine delivers 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This amount of power is enough to provide some pretty amazing performances. Both engines come with a new 9-speed automatic transmission.

This SUV will also come in a diesel variant. This version comes with a 1.6-liter engine that is good for about 135 horses. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission and provides much better fuel economy.

2019 GMC Terrain release date and price

The 2019 GMC Terrain will most likely come in the third quarter of the next year. However, a more precise release date is yet to be specified. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect changes. Base models should go around 25.000 dollars. On the other side, top models could go all away up to 36.000 dollars.

Competition is pretty tough. Key players in the class are models like Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4, Ford Escape and Kia Sportage, but there is a whole bunch of other compact crossovers around.
