The famous SUV will most likely continue without bigger changes as 2019 GMC Yukon. According to latest reports, we will have to wait another year to see some bigger updates. To remind you, the current version of this full-size SUV is present for about three years. A famous Tahoe’s relative is currently in the fourth generation.
For these 26 years of production (the original Yukon dates from 1991), this model gained a pretty high reputation. It balances somewhere between mainstream and premium SUV, offering more luxury than its relative from Chevy. For the current 2018-year model, we saw several updates such as new 10-speed transmission for some versions.
On the other side, 2019 Yukon will most likely with only minor changes, which will include things like new colors, new interior schemes, few new standard features for each trim etc. We expect its arrival somewhere late in the next year.
2019 GMC Yukon redesign
The 2019 GMC Yukon will continue with a familiar design. The current version is present for about three years, so we can say it can carry on with the same appearance for another year or two when a mid-cycle refresh should come. So, what to expect from the next-year model? Well, we will definitely see the same styling. This large SUV comes with a pretty familiar shape, same as Tahoe’s, but also features a unique front end, which completely follows brand’s design language.
The interior design is also pretty close, but you can find some distinguishing details as well. For the 2019 GMC Yukon, the company will probably offer one or two new color options, as well as one or two new interior color schemes. Rest of the SUV will remain pretty much the same, although we could see a little bit more standard equipment for each trim level.
2019 GMC Yukon equipment
We are about to see the same organization of equipment, although some new standard features for each trim of 2019 GMC Yukon are possible. The current model comes in three variants. The base SLE trim includes standard features like 18-inch wheels, roof rails, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control and keyless entry and ignition. Also, there are standard features like tri-zone automatic climate control, 8-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, a rearview camera, Bluetooth etc. A mid-range SLT adds several nice features. Things like blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, power-adjustable, heated and ventilate front seats etc.
Finally, there is a top-level Denali trim. This version includes all above but also includes much more. Besides a familiar grill design, this version also comes with standard features like 20-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, head-up display, noise cancelation, navigation, 10-speaker sound system etc.
2019 GMC Yukon engine
The 2019 GMC Yukon will come without changes under the hood. The base model will continue with a familiar 5.3-liter V8 unit, which is good for about 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in a pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to rear wheels, while AWD is optional.
On the other side, a top range Yukon Denali features a bigger and more powerful 6.2-liter unit. This V8 engine is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a new 10-speed automatic transmission and standard RWD. Just like in all other models, all-wheel drive is optional.
2019 GMC Yukon release date and price
Since there will not be bigger changes, there is no need for some earlier arrival. The 2019 GMC Yukon should come in usual time, which will, in this case, be somewhere in late 2018. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect changes. The base version goes around 50.000 dollars, while fully-loaded models could easily go over 70.000 dollars.
Competition in the segment is pretty tough. There are models like Lincoln Navigator, Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia etc.
What you haven’t talked about is the CHANGE in the GMC warranty period , been reduced to 60 from 100K and to 5 years on the motor train. Something to consider when buying.
