2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid Review

The Japanese carmaker is preparing to finally launch electrified version of its famous SUV, which will come as 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid. The famous crossover is present for more than fifteen years.

It originally came in 2002, but we didn’t see a hybrid version so far, despite the fact that Honda already has several vehicles of this kind in the offer. The new version will come two years after the launch of the new generation. So, we don’t expect any significant change, except new powertrain. In all other aspects, the new 2019 Pilot Hybrid will be pretty much the same as the standard gasoline model.

Expect to see the same design, styling, and interior, although some smaller tweaks are possible. On the other side, we will see a new powertrain, which will probably be the same as in new Accord. We expect to see new model already next year.

The new version of a famous crossover is about to come pretty soon. The company prepares a model that will come with a new powertrain, but it will also keep pretty much all other things unchanged. So, the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will come with a familiar design. In terms of styling, we are about to see a familiar look, which was introduced last year. It completely follows the brand’s latest design language, but there is a big chance to see few unique details that will distinguish it from a standard gasoline model.

The same thing is expected inside. The new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will come with a familiar cabin and dashboard layout. However, we could also see some tweaks on the dashboard and instrument cluster, where we should see some new elements, usual for hybrid cars. The new model should also come with a full load of equipment.

2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid features

Most likely, the new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will come in a single trim, unlike the gasoline version, which comes in several variants. However, this one trim will be very well equipped, much better than base gasoline versions. We expect that this version will feature a similar amount of equipment as Touring trim of the gasoline model. So, we should see standard features like 20-inch wheels, additional noise-reducing acoustic glass for the windows, front and rear parking sensors. Expect also driver-seat memory settings, ambient interior lighting, a 10-speaker sound system and many other things.

The new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will also come with a whole bunch of safety systems. Some of them are adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation with automatic braking, a road departure intervention system, a forward collision warning system, and lane departure warning and intervention systems. We also expect to see various optional packages.

2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid powertrain

Although we didn’t get an official confirmation, the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will most likely use the same powertrain as new Accord Hybrid. The famous sedan comes with a system that combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. Exact numbers of the whole system are unknown. However, we expect to see a similar amount of power as in a version with a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine.

On the other side, fuel economy should be much better. If we consider that the new Accord Hybrid can return up to 50 miles per gallon, we believe that the new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will able to make similar results.

2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid release date and price

The 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will come somewhere next year, but a more precise date is something we don’t know yet. The same thing is about price. So far, we can only make predictions. The base Pilot goes around 32.000 dollars. So, this electrified version could easily cost more than 40.000 dollars, or maybe even more.

Competition in this segment is tough. There are both hybrid and gasoline crossovers that are seen as potential rivals. Some of them are Toyota Highlander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Edge, Nissan Murano, Hyundai Santa Fe and many others.
