If we can trust those reports that circulate on the internet, 2019 Hyundai Tucson could come with some bigger changes. According to many rumors, the Korean manufacturer will do a mid-cycle refresh for this occasion. The famous crossover is currently in the third generation.
It originally came in 2004, while the current version is present for about two years. It came in 2015, as the 2016 year model. The 2019 Tucson will be in the fourth year of production, so we could easily see some bigger modifications. According to some reports, this could be a mid-cycle refresh. This looks quite possible since previous two generations didn’t have very long production life. So, this update should bring various kinds of changes. Most of them will be visual, but we could also see novelties inside, especially in terms of new features. We expect its arrival somewhere in the second half of 2018.
2019 Hyundai Tucson redesign
Despite many reports suggest various changes on this crossover it is pretty much for sure that base design characteristics will remain the same. The current model came two years ago. It rides on a modern platform and it is still very fresh in pretty much all aspects. So, this doesn’t leave much space for potential changes. Most likely, we will see some visual improvement and a bunch of new standard features. The current model is well-equipped and comes in five trim levels – SE, Eco, Sport, SE Plus and Limited.
Even the base ES model comes with standard features like 17-inch alloy wheels, touchscreen, satellite radio, Bluetooth, air conditioning, USB etc. The 2019 Hyundai Tucson will probably include several new standard features. Moreover, this update will bring new standard feature for all trim levels. Also, it is possible to see some new advanced safety systems in the offer.
2019 Hyundai Tucson changes
A mid-cycle update usually brings various kinds of changes and we don’t expect anything different from 2019 Hyundai Tucson. The most notable will be those visual improvements. The current model completely follows the latest design language of the brand, so we don’t expect some bigger modification in terms of styling. We could see some smaller tweaks on headlights, bumper, and grille. Changes in some other areas are possible too. However, the base shape will definitely remain the same.
Inside, biggest changes will be in terms of new standard features. In other aspects, we don’t expect anything special, although we could see some new details on the dashboard. Also, we could see some new exterior color options, as well as some new interior schemes. New wheels design is also possible.
2019 Hyundai Tucson engines
The 2019 Hyundai Tucson will continue with same engines. There are two units in the offer for the North American market. The base model comes with a familiar 2.0-liter engine, which is good for about 164 horsepower. This engine comes in a pair with a conventional 6-speed automatic transmission.
On the other side, there is a new 1.6-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for 175 horses and 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes with a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which provides better drive experience. Besides more power, this engine also features better fuel economy, so the price is the only selling point of the base 2.0-liter unit.
For some other markets, 2019 Hyundai Tucson will also come with diesel engines. There are units with the displacement of 1.7 and 2.0 liters, with max power of 139 and 182 horsepower, respectively. Both engines come with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Hyundai Tucson release date and price
The 2019 Hyundai Tucson will come somewhere in the second half of next year, probably in the third quarter. When it comes to price, we don’t expect bigger changes compared to the current model, which goes in a range between 23.000 and 33.000 dollars, roughly. There are many competitors in this segment, but key rivals will be models like Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape etc.
