Recently redesigned, a popular crossover will continue without bigger changes for the next year, as 2019 Jeep Compass. As you probably know, the second generation of this SUV finally came last year. After many years, production of the original one is finally over.
To remind you, the first generation was released way back in 2006. After a full decade, the second generation comes significantly improved. It gets a new platform, completely new look, as well as plenty of new technologies. Considering all this, it is hard to expect some bigger changes for the second year of production. The 2019 Compass will continue in the same way, though some minor tweaks in terms of new colors and interior schemes are possible. Also, we could see few new standard features for each trim level. The new model should come somewhere late in the year.
2019 Jeep Compass familiar design
The 2019 Jeep Compass will continue with a familiar design. This crossover has been completely redesigned last year. In now features a completely new design. There is a new platform, borrowed from Renegade but stretched as well. The new design is far more advanced since it features numerous latest technologies. Besides significant mechanical improvement, styling is also pretty impressive. The new generation looks far more athletic. It comes with sharp lines and features brand’s latest design language.
The 2019 Jeep Compass will take an interesting spot in the company’s lineup. It will sit below the Cherokee. On the other side, it is bigger and far more capable than entry-level Renegade. Speaking of the interior, things will remain unchanged. Expect to see a familiar dashboard layout and a similar list of standard equipment. Still, some new color schemes, as well as new colors on the outside are quite possible.
2019 Jeep Compass trim levels
We expect to see the same trim organization. This means three versions – Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. The base Sport model will come with standard features like 16-inch wheels, air-conditioning, 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, a six-speaker sound system and maybe few more new things.
The next one is Latitude. This version includes all above but adds few nice things, such as simulated leather seat upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless ignition and entry. It adds a larger 8.5-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration, automatic dual-zone climate control, an upgraded driver information display, a power driver seat, heated front seats and leather upholstery.
Finally, there’s the Trailhawk. A top-range model comes fully loaded. It is designed for the off-road drive, so there are off-road tires, raised suspension, underbody protection, tow hooks, Selec Terrain system etc.
2019 Jeep Compass engine
Thanks to the new platform, this crossover dramatically improved driving characteristics. One of the key reasons for such good driving characteristics is an updated 2.4-liter gasoline engine. This unit now delivers 180 horses and 172 pound-feet of torque. Transmission is a six-speed automatic.
For some other markets, there are few additional engines in the offer. A 2.0-liter gasoline engine is good for about 158 horsepower. Finally, you can find a diesel version on some market as well. This version uses a 2.0-liter oil-burner which is good for about 140 horsepower. On these markets, a manual transmission is also in the offer.
2019 Jeep Compass release date and price
The 2019 Jeep Compass will come in usual time, which is somewhere late in the year. We don’t expect bigger changes in price. Base models will go around 21.000 dollars. With such price, a familiar crossover could be a good alternative to more expensive class-leaders such as Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson.
