The 2019 Jeep Renegade will receive a mid-cycle update. The company prepares several novelties for the small crossover that originally came in 2014. During these three or four years of production, the smallest SUV from Jeep didn’t manage to impose itself as a more important player on the market. The company expected more from this model, but the fact is that there are several much better small crossovers on the market.
In current circumstances, this SUV definitely can’t compete with models like Mazda CX-3, or Subaru Crosstrek, but there is definitely space for some improvement. So, next year will bring us many new things on this tiny crossover. This mid-cycle refresh will bring some nice visual updates, but we also expect to see some novelties inside. The engine lineup, on the other side, will probably remain the same. The 2019 Renegade will come in the second half of next year.
2019 Jeep Renegade exterior design and possible changes
This update is about to bring several changes and biggest novelties will probably be in terms of visual appearance. The testing model has been spotted few times and we can clearly see some camouflaged areas. Naturally, most of these modifications will be done at the front end. The 2019 Jeep Renegade will probably keep its familiar “Jeepy” front grille and headlights, although some minor tweaks are quite possible.
On the other side, we expect to see a new front bumper, with new fog lamps and bigger air intakes. We are also about to see new fenders. When it comes to the rear end, we don’t expect to see anything special, although rear bumper could receive some smaller tweaks in order to follow the new design of front bumper.

The 2019 Jeep Renegade could also receive some new things inside. One of the most anticipated new features for this update is the new, bigger touchscreen. However, the new screen will probably be in the offer for higher trims only. When it comes to trim level, we don’t expect bigger changes. The base organization will remain, but each trim could receive some new features. Other changes inside the SUV are not expected. We will see pretty much the same cabin, which definitely can’t accommodate five passengers. However, we can’t take this as a disadvantage, if we consider exterior dimensions and fact that this SUV comes with AWD.
2019 Jeep Renegade engines
When it comes to powertrain, the 2019 Jeep Renegade will continue without changes. The North American version is available with two engines. There is a familiar 2.4-liter unit from Chrysler, which is good for about 180 horses. The optional 1.4-liter turbo inline-four from fiat is good for about 160 horsepower.
There are also several other engines that power this small crossover. For example, European models come with famous MultiAir diesel engines. There is a smaller 1.6-liter unit with 120 horses and a bigger 2.0-liter engine, which comes in two output configurations, with 140 and 170 horsepower.
Also, there are two engines from Brazil that can be found in some specific markets. Those are gasoline units with displacements of 1.6 and 1.8 liters, with max power of 110 and 130 horses, respectively.
2019 Jeep Renegade release date and price
It is still hard to predict a more precise release date, but the 2019 Jeep Renegade will most likely have a premiere first, somewhere in the second half of year. Production should start several months later and first models will be available probably in the third quarter of 2018.
When it comes to price, we don’t expect bigger changes. So, the base model will go around 19.000 dollars. On the other side, top-range models could easily go nearly 30.000 dollars.
Competition in the segment is tough. There are excellent Japanese models like Mazda CX-3, Subaru Crosstrek, Honda HR-V and Toyota CH-R. There are also rivals from GM Chevy Trax and Buick Encore. Finally, there is an amazing Kia Soul, which offers a fantastic balance between price and quality.
