Like most other luxury carmakers, German giant Mercedes-Benz is focusing on revamp of its crossover/SUV portfolio. The company is now testing a lineup of vehicles including the popular GLA and GLE Class. The latest reports indicate the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS class is also being tested before launch.

This is going to be the 2nd generation of GLS Class. This model will be more stronger with high-end materials and it will be equipt with latest tech and safety.

The test model of upcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS Class was recently spied a number of times and photos are now available on the web. The prototype model was undergoing testing on the public road. Despite moderate level of camouflage, the design styling was clear.

It is based on the company’s new MHA architecture. Owing to this, the new vehicle is larger and the cabin is more spacious. It is expected to look less boxy than the existing version.

You can expect the vehicle to be laden with LED headlamps, larger outside rearview mirror and alloy wheels with new styling. The new car is expected to be more lightweight than the previous edition.

The exact powertrain that will be in upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLS Class is still unknown. However, a range of six and 4 cylinder gasoline engines will be definitively under the hood.

There is a rumor that will get the same engine as the current one 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6. This engine can deliver 362 horsepower. It is available in model GLS 450. The other one that powers GLS 550 is the mighty 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged V8.

This one is capable to make 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. However, we will definitely see better numbers in the new model.
