Most of the potential buyers already know all new models that will come next year. The SUV market is a huge expansion, so it is no wonder that there are many completely new models ready for the next year. We will not just see redesigns and updates of the current models, but also many completely new SUVs and crossover. For example, German manufacturers will come with several completely 2019 new SUV models, such as Audi Q4, Q8 or BMW X7.
There are also completely new SUVs from Lexus, Volvo, Cadillac etc. Even the Rolls-Royce will come with a brand-new SUV for 2019. Also, there are some notable redesigns, of models like Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes-Benz GLE or Porsche Cayenne. There are even more novelties in the world of SUVs and crossovers, so we made a list of the most interesting models for the next year. Here is our list of 2019 new SUV models:
2019 Audi Q3
The famous carmaker from Ingolstadt is currently working on several 2019 new SUV models and Audi Q3 will probably be first to come. The fancy small crossover will receive its first redesign and we are about to see numerous changes. First of all, the new model will be based on the company’s famous MQB platform, which will bring many benefits. For example, the second generation of this compact crossover should be more than 100 pounds lighter than the original.
Of course, that won’t be the only change. We are about to see a completely new styling, new interior with latest technologies etc. Speaking about the powertrain, we are about to see not just conventional diesel and gasoline engine, but also hybrid and all-electric models. The later one should feature a 300-mile range.
2019 Audi Q4
This will be a brand-new model from Audi. Since it will be closely related to the new Q3, it should come right after a new version of odd-numbered compact crossover. Although a completely new 2019 SUV, the Audi Q4 will have much in common with Q3. Pretty much complete mechanics will be identical, as well as interior design. On the other side, this model will feature a little bit fancier, coupe-like body style, with a sloping roofline. The list of powertrain options will include familiar engines from the VW Group, but we are about to see some electrified versions, as well as a hi-performance SQ4 variant.
2019 Audi Q8
Another model that should come by the end of next year is 2019 Audi Q8. This will be a new top-range model from the Ingolstadt’s carmaker. After many years of waiting, Audi will finally get a competitor in the segment where key players are models like BMW X7, Range Rover Sport, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe etc. This new 2019 SUV will be heavily based on the Q7. It will ride on the same platform but feature a coupe-like body style. We will see the same relation as between Q3 and Q4 models. The new flagship crossover will have its premiere in late 2018 and it will be produced in the same plant as Q7, in Slovakia.
2019 BMW X4
The Bavarian manufacturer pioneered the segment of coupe-like crossovers. Unlike Audi, for example, this company already has crossovers of many sizes with this body styles. This particular model came in 2014 and now it turns for some updates. Unfortunately for BMW, we already spotted a refreshed model, before its premiere.
It comes with a new rear end that features new taillights and also a license-plate mounting point that is now positioned on the bumper, instead of hatch. Besides new visual details, we are about to see a new M version with a diesel engine. Expect more than 355 horsepower from a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder diesel unit. The new model will come somewhere in the middle of next year.
2019 BMW X7
The biggest novelty from the Bavarian carmaker will definitely be a new 2019 BMW X7. This famous manufacturer will finally enter the segment of full-size crossovers, after many years of waiting. The new model will adopt most of the technical achievements from the new 7-Series, including complete engine lineup, while the overall shape should be similar to X5, just in a bigger package
We are about to see a wide palette of variants. Besides standard three-row version, X7 will most likely also come in a more luxurious version with four seats. This ultra-luxurious version should be a perfect alternative for the pricey Bentayga from Bentley.
2019 Cadillac XT3
In North America, things are in the pretty much same direction. We are about to see several 2019 new SUV models and we definitely can’t skip the new product from GM. It is a completely new premium compact crossover, which will come as 2019 Cadillac XT3. Although it is still under a camouflage, many reports suggest that sales could start already in the middle of next year.
We are about to see a decent rival to models like BMW X1, Audi Q3, Lexus NX etc. One of its trumps will be a new 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine, which outputs 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and comes with a new 9-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Jeep Wrangler
In these days when the market is chockablock with crossover, it is always exciting to see some real SUV, especially when it is about 2019 Jeep Wrangler. One of the most iconic off-road vehicles will finally come completely redesigned. Although the company struggles to carry through the process of the redesign, latest reports suggest that the new generation is finally on its way, after more than a decade.
The 2019 version of the iconic mid-size SUV will bring plenty of improvement, but we are sure that Jeep is going to keep some dose of the models famous and never-aging flavor. The pickup version of the iconic SUV is coming as well.
2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
There is some more amazing news from Ohio. The company from Toledo will bring back one of its most iconic models, a full-size 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The company finally confirmed that the new SUV will enter production soon. It will be a new top-range model, which will ride on the familiar body-on-frame chassis from Ram pickup.
Main competitors are well-known Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition. However, various reports suggest a wide 60.000-100.000-dollars price range, which indicates some luxurious version of the new model as well. Same reports also suggest a hybrid powertrain in the offer, along with conventional gasoline and diesel engines.
2019 Land Rover Defender
When you are waiting to see a replacement for one of the most iconic off-road vehicles of all time, there is no space for anything but high expectations. It is now official. The new generation of the iconic SUV will come in early 2019, probably as 2019 Land Rover Defender. The new SUV will share the platform with Discovery Sport model.
We will see familiar 2.0- and 3.0-liter diesel engines in the offer, but the more interesting thing about the new model is a wide palette of body styles, which will include soft-roof and even pickup versions. There are even reports about base price, which should go around 50.000 dollars.
2019 Lexus UX
When you talk about luxury cars, you can’t omit Toyota’s premium brand. The world’s leading carmaker will introduce a new entry-level crossover for its lineup of luxury vehicles. We already have seen its concept version last year and we hope that the production model will keep the same design as much as possible.
The key trump of will be its styling, which is simply stupendous. It is simply non-comparable and with the perfect powertrain, it could easily become one of the leaders in the segment. Just like all models from Lexus, this one will also include electrified powertrain option. It should be the same powertrain that can be found in NX300h.
2019 Lincoln MKX
The prototype of what is likely to be 2019 Lincoln MKX has been spotted on the roads. Despite that it still wears a heavy camouflage, we can anticipate possible changes. The current version of the mid-size crossover is present since 2015 when it came with a whole bunch of significant changes. So, we can expect nothing more but visual updates for this occasion.
Under the camouflage, the new grille looms. The company will replace the current two-piece design with the new one, similar to one that we can find on the new Continental. We are also about to see a new headlights design, which will include a two-tier lighting arrangement, something that is becoming quite popular these days.
2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE
The segment of luxury crossovers is dominated by German manufacturers so we can’t make this list without some model from the Mercedes-Benz. The famous manufacturer will introduce a new generation of its mid-size crossover, known as GLE. Although this nameplate is present for just a few years, it is basically a model from 2012, when the last generation of legendary M-Class came. For this occasion, the company will introduce a completely new model, which will ride on the new MHA platform.
The 2019 new Mercedes SUV will feature a more rugged look compared to the current model, with sharer lines and more massive overall appearance. Expect an engine lineup of familiar units, including 4.0-liter V8 that will be reserved for the AMG hi-performance version.
2019 Porsche Cayenne
The best example to explain the current situation on the car market it this crossover, which is the best-selling model from the company that produces the most iconic sports car of all time, 911. The new 2019 Porsche Cayenne already had its premiere. The third generation comes with many improvements, both in terms of performances and comfort. So far, we have seen two versions – the base Cayenne and Cayenne S.
So, we expect the rest of models to come during next year. Those are Turbo, Turbo S, GTS, Diesel, S Diesel, as well as hybrid variants. Besides improved performances, the company also promises even better comfort, since the new model features, even more, space inside and plenty of new technologies.
2019 Range Rover Velar SVR
The new hi-performance version of the famous SUV took some testing at the Nurburgring this summer. So, we can expect production version somewhere next year. This model comes with various modification compared to the base version. The 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR features things like a new front bumper with larger air intakes, new diffusers integrated to the rear bumper, new exhaust system, and many other details to accentuate its sporty character.
When it comes to the powertrain, this new Range Rover SUV will most likely feature a Jaguar’s familiar 5.0-liter V8, which will for this occasion have a max output between 550 and 600 horses. The new version will compete with models like BMW X6 M, Mercedes-AMG GLE63 Coupe and Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
2019 Rolls-Royce Project Cullinan
Rolls-Royce started with the development of this SUV two years ago and it looks like the new model is about to come next year. It is an SUV that shares aluminum spaceframe architecture with the iconic Phantom, except this version of the platform is shorter but with higher riding.
The company promises not just an ultra-luxurious, but also highly capable SUV, which will most likely feature a 6.75 twin-turbo V12 engine, which is good for about 563 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. The new 2019 Rolls-Royce Project Cullinan could also come with an all-electric powertrain.
2019 Volvo XC40
Swedish manufacturer prepares the new compact crossover 2019 Volvo XC40 for 2018-spring launch. It is a completely new model from Volvo, a compact crossover. It comes with an amazing design and with plenty of new technologies. However, the most interesting thing about the new model is that the company will introduce a new way of buying.
Besides traditional sale, there will be also a subscription to the new model. This means that you can pay a flat monthly fee that includes the vehicle, concierge service, maintenance, cleaning. When minimum subscription period expires, you can get a new car in the same way, or buy the car by paying the remaining amount of money.
2019 Acura RDX
The CR-V’s luxurious relative will continue with the same production cycle, so we are about to see the next generation pretty soon. We expect that the premiere of the third generation will be already next year. The company works hard on the new model, which is in an advanced stage of development.
There are many new things to come with a new generation. In the mechanical aspect, the most interesting will be a new 2.0-liter Turbo inline-four engine, which will replace the old and thirsty V6. Also, this redesign will include those usual changes such as a completely new styling, new interior design. The new 2019 SUV from Acura will adopt the latest design language of the brand and ride on the same platform as new CR-V.
2019 Chevy Blazer
Since 60’s, this nameplate was in use for various models from Chevrolet, mostly for trucks and SUVs. The company decided to bring back familiar nameplate. However, this time will be used for the new crossover that is about to come next year. The test mule has been already spotted few times. It will be a new mid-size crossover that will find its place between downsized Equinox and upsized Traverse.
The new Blazer will feature the same engine lineup as GMC Acadia, including a familiar V6. Both premiere and launch should happen somewhere in the second half of next year.
2019 Ford Explorer
Another new model that will come in the second half of 2018 is the new Ford Explorer. The next generation of the famous crossover will come with some significant changes. Most of those big changes will not be notable at the first sight. The styling of the new model will come in the same boxy manner that characterizes the current version. On the other side, we are about to see a completely new architecture.
This should be the first model to use a new D6 platform. This architecture is reserved for large models and its main characteristic is a massive use of aluminum. The 2019 Explorer will come with a new 9-speed automatic transmission, and it could include a hybrid version in the powertrain lineup.
2019 Honda Pilot
Although it probably won’t feature bigger changes, this crossover is simply inevitable when it comes to utility vehicles. Praised for its amazing quality, it is the first choice for many car buyers. Since the current generation is present for about two years, we can’t expect bigger changes for the 2019 Honda Pilot.
This model will come in usual time, in late 2018, and it could only feature some smaller updates, such as new standard features and maybe some new visual details. In all other aspects, including engine lineup, this excellent crossover will continue without changes.
2019 Infiniti QX50
The Nissan’s luxury division will also come with big novelties next year. A familiar QX50 will receive a so-needed overhaul. This redesign will include various changes. First of all, the new 2019 Infiniti QX50 will grow bigger. It will get a new platform, developed together with Mercedes-Benz. It is a modification of the architecture that underprints GLA and QX30 models.
Compared to this version, it features a longer wheelbase, which clearly sets the new model in range with premium crossovers like BMW X3 or Audi Q5. The new generation will come with a completely new 2.0-liter inline-four, which will feature similar output as the outgoing V6 but almost 30-percent better fuel economy.
2019 Lexus RX 350
This is the brand’s best-selling model in the United States, so it is no wonder that the company takes special care about this model. The famous mid-size crossover came two years ago, which indicates that updates for the 2019 RX350 will not be significant. Most likely, the only visual change will be a new pair of taillights. On the other side, there are rumors about the new version with the new engine, which will be an addition to the current 350 and 450h models. Most likely, it will be a familiar 2.0-liter inline-four, which is in use for the smaller NX300. The engine is good for about 235 horsepower.
2019 Nissan Pathfinder
Another famous SUV will come completely new next year. The current model is present since 2012, so it is a perfect time for the redesign. The new 2019 Pathfinder will come with a whole bunch of changes, which will include new platform, engines, styling, interior design etc.
However, the biggest news is its possible return to Europe. As you probably know, the current generation is not available in that part of the world, neither in Japan. So, we can expect its return to the Old Continent, which could be a nice help to Renault-Nissan to take over the leading position in the global market.
2019 Subaru Forester
Another novelty from Japan will be a new version of the legendary Forester. The excellent SUV is in production for full two decades and we have always praised its amazing quality. This will be the fifth version of the iconic model. It will ride on the company’s new modular platform that debuted in 2017 Impreza.
However, the new model will have most in common with the upcoming 3-row Ascent. The new Forester will feature similar shape, just in a smaller package. Compared to the current generation, it will grow for a bit. We just hope that the new generation will also have its sporty XT version in the offer. We expect its launch in late 2018.
Besides above-mentioned vehicles, there are a lot 2019 new SUV models that we are expecting. We will try to provide to you all significant information about upcoming SUVs on our blog.
