The SUV and Crossover segment is getting diversified with time and almost all carmakers are either revamping their popular models or launching new ones targeting this segment! Nissan the Japanese car giant is in no mood to let rivals walk away with a large share of the market. So, the company has given a revamp to the 2019 Nissan Kicks compact crossover.
It is more stylish than the Juke and offers a lot for the target buyers. The 2019 model gets new styling, enhanced safety features and decent amenities.
2019 Nissan Kicks Exterior Redesign and Colors
The exterior styling of 2019 Nissan Kicks is somewhat subdued compared to the Juke. The crisp lines and sharp creases on the body give it a sleek urban appeal. Its design is inspired by inputs taken from both Nissan Global Design Center and US-based Nissan Design center.
The car is sold in several trims and various exterior colors. Some of them are Aspen White/Super Black, Brilliant Silver, Gun Metallic, Super Black, Cayenne Red/Super Black, Deep Blue Pearl/Powder White, Monarch Orange/Super Black and Gun Metallic/Monarch Orange. One can also opt for 2 tone body colors.
The headlamps are also LED-powered and have a Boomerang shape. One will get a 16 and 17-inch alloy wheel choices based on which trim you buy.
2019 Nissan Kicks Interior is spacious and comfort
The cabin of 2019 Nissan Kicks is quite sleek looking and it is spacious as well. There is enough space to accommodate 5 adults. The Gliding Wing style new dashboard is uncluttered and the design is aimed at utility rather than evoking opulence.
Cargo space is just about average for this class though Nissan has deployed intelligent and practical cargo management features. The leather seats are only offered in higher trims.
Safety features and amenities
Like most of the cars in 2019 lineup of Nissan, the new Kicks comes with safety technologies and latest amenities. However, the base trim gets fewer features in both departments which is logical. All trims get many airbags, RearView monitor and Automatic Emergency Braking. Top trims get Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Around View Monitor, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Seven supplemental restraint airbags including driver’s knee airbag and many more.
The 2019 Nissan Kicks gets a new edition of NissanConnect infotainment setup and there is a 7.0 inches bright touch display to control various features. It supports Bluetooth and navigation as well. Features include Intelligent Auto Headlights, automatic wipers, automatic climate control and metallic roof rails. Also, it will get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and Nissan’s Intelligent Key™ with remote start.
However, the optional features are fog lights, heated mirrors, and rear roof spoiler. The SR premium package gets BOSE® Personal® Plus Audio system with powered amplifier and 8 speakers including 2 speakers in the driver’s headrest and heated front seats.
2019 Nissan Kicks Engine performance and gearbox info
The 2019 Nissan Kicks comes with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit under the hood. It generates an output of 125 HP and 115 lb-ft of torque. This is okay for urban driving needs but takes it on the highway and the limitations of this engine become prominent. This engine comes with a CVT gearbox. This setup is far less powerful than the Juke.
Fuel economy is the only redeeming aspects of this powertrain. It will give 33 mpg combined. However, at this moment there is no info about AWD system.
2019 Nissan Kicks Price and Availability
The 2019 Nissan Kicks will cost $22.000 for the base trim. It will be debut in late 2018.
Summing it up
The 2019 Nissan Kicks is a nice compact crossover with great styling and features. Apart from the weak engine, there is nothing to crib about. It will compete with many crossover SUVs like Honda HR-V, Chevy Trax, Mazda CX-3 and the Toyota C-HR.
