2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Review, First Drive

The Japanese carmaker is busy sprucing up its SUV and crossover lineup, one of them is 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport.

The Nissan Qashqai was re-launched as Rogue Sport in the US market in 2017. However, a new version of the Rogue Sport is under development which will hit the roads in 2018 as a 2019 model.

2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Interior and Trims

The exterior styling of upcoming Rogue sport is enticing, it is not very different from the regular Sports model though. The headlamps and V motion grille are similar to what you get in most new Nissan models. It will be offered in few metallic and regular hues. The car will be sold in three trims- S, SV and SL.

The cabin is adorned tastefully with the base trim has plenty of hard plastic parts. The default cargo space stands at 22.9 cubic feet and it is less than rival Honda HR-V. The regular Rogue is larger in size and offers a generous 40 cubic feet as default cargo space. Despite its smaller dimension, the cabin of Rogue sport does not look much cramped and legroom is decent for all passengers.

Safety Features and Amenities

The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport is equipped with decent amenities and safety features are also good for its segment.

The base S trim gets 16-inch steel wheels, rearview camera, infotainment set up with Bluetooth, and satellite radio. SV trim gets 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, roof rails, keyless entry, Divide-N-Hide cargo setup and also a dual-zone automatic climate control.

The SL trim adds 19-inch wheels, fog lights, automatic high beams, leather upholstery, heated mirrors, remote start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, navigation along with surround-view camera system. The Moving Object Detection feature is included with camera setup. This is something you rarely get in cars belonging to this class.

Some of the SL trim features can be added to lower 2 trims at extra cost. However, the SL premium package also brings LED headlights, sunroof and blind-spot monitoring. The SL Platinum package gets forward collision mitigation, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.

2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Engine

The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit mated with a CVT gearbox. Despite the Sports moniker, the driving is not exactly sporty.

It churns out 144 HP which is decent for urban driving but for highway driving it is clearly not enough. The mileage is average for its class. It comes with the great fuel economy in the city/highway of 25/32 mpg (FWD), 24/30 mpg (AWD).

2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Price and Launch Date

The base price of the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport is around $ 22.500. It will be unveiled in mid to late 2018.

The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport is a nice compact crossover that receives a minor revamp of styling and amenities. The car is laden with good safety features though most of these are limited to top trim. Customization is possible but its cargo space limitation is a hurdle. Eventually, it faces steep competition from segment rivals like Mazda CX 3 and Honda HR –V.
