2019 Renault Kadjar Facelift, Review

Ever since Renault tied up with Nissan, the alliance has unveiled vehicles way better and improved than their predecessors. Renault’s first endeavor at making a largely sized crossover went awry with the Koleos meeting average reviews and responses. However, with the new 2019 Renault Kadjar, the French carmaker wants to reverse the fortunes.

Based on the Common Module Family platform of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, the Kadjar is based on the popular Nissan Qashqai. It gets enhanced styling, powerful engines and enough amenities to woo the target buyers. It will lock horns with many rivals.

The 2019 Renault Kadjar is a stunning looking crossover but for some buyers, the design may seem a little over the top. The car is going to be sold in a few trims and some exterior color choices. The colors choice include Cappuccino Brown, Mercury Grey, Diamond Black, Dune Beige, Titanium Grey, Flame Red, Arctic White and very attractive Cosmos Blue. The cabin is quite roomy and stylish looking.

The cargo space is where it tramples most segment rivals and Renault has offered ample options to store beverages and small gadgets in the cabin. Only the optional panoramic sunroof cuts into rear headroom.

Interior and Space

The front seat passengers need not worry about space though. The cabin can accommodate 5 adults. While material quality is overall good, it cannot be termed lavish.

However, this model has been awarded maximum five-star crash safety score by Euro NCAP. Furthermore, the adult and child occupant protection is rated with 89 scores of 100.

The 2019 Renault Kadjar gets laden with enough safety tech and included amenities are also pretty good. The Entry-level Expression+ trim lacks sat-nav and touch screen unit. It still gets USB and Bluetooth, LED daytime running lights, cruise control. The interior of this trim will be also available in few colors and fabrics.

In Dynamique Nav trim, the color touch screen is present. Furthermore, it also gets enhanced sound setup and dual-zone climate control and wipers that are automated. In the top Signature trim, you get a Bose sound system, panoramic glass roof and full-LED headlights.

However, the new vehicle sports an enhanced infotainment system which is fluid to use and easy to learn. It is Smartphone OS compatible and supports voice commands.

Safety Tech

Safety-wise, all trims get tire pressure monitoring, six airbags, and also electronic stability control. The car gets traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning system. Don`t forget feature like hill-start assistance, ISOFIX child-seat mounting and anti-lock brakes.

However, some of the trims will get advanced features. There is also a new Safety Pack Premium package that is available in the Signature Nav trim. This will add a blind-spot warning and autonomous emergency braking.

The 2019 Renault Kadjar is powered by engines that are good mostly for urban driving. The 1.2 L gasoline engine is just fine and it can tackle full load and long drives too. However, the diesel engines are peppier. The 1.5-litre diesel is a stable performer.

The top of the lot is a 1.6 L diesel engine. All these engines are coming with a six-speed manual transmission.

Only the 1.6 L diesel engine will be available with all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. The cabin is quiet owing to good acoustic insulation. Ride quality is overall nice unless you opt for the larger 19-inch alloy wheels. The company claim that this model will give combined fuel economy 72.4mpg. If this is true, the newest crossover is the best efficiency model in its class.

The base trim price for 2019 Renault Kadjar is approx $20.000. However, the price might go up to 35,000 depending on trims. The newest French model will be available in late 2018.

The 2019 Renault Kadjar is a nice crossover which offers great value for money. Its blend of styling, safety tech and also performance make the car a winner in the segment.

Competitors

The newest 2019 Renault Kadjar will compete with Volkswagen Tiguan, Peugeot 3008, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Kuga, Kia Sportage, SEAT Ateca, Mazda CX-5, and Jeep Compass.
