It looks like the famous Swedish carmaker is going to bring back its famous station wagon/crossover as 2019 Volvo XC70. This car was present on the market for a full two decades, between 1996 and 2016. For all those years, we have seen three generations and all of them were characterized by the company’s famous boxy approach. We have no doubt that the upcoming model will go in the same direction. So far, we don’t know many details about the next-generation model.
Most reports suggest that the new 2019 XC70 will have a lot in common with XC40, a compact crossover that became one of the company’s best-selling models. We are about to see a lot of novelties in various aspects as well as Volvo’s famous high level of safety. The new model is about to come pretty soon, maybe even late this year.
2019 Volvo XC70 Platform
The fourth generation is about to come after a few years of break. So, it seems pretty legal to call this arrival a new redesign. In any case, the new 2019 Volvo XC70 is about to take a lot of design solutions from XC40. Of course, this refers to mechanics. The new crossover will use the same new CMA platform, which made its debut with XC40 last year. In terms of styling, we expect 2019 Volvo XC70 to follow brand’s latest design language. Most likely, the front end will be pretty much the same as on the XC40, which has introduced some interesting styling details. The most notable is the new headlights design, which features sharper lines. The also comes with changes, featuring a new pattern. Other tweaks could be found on the bumper, in form of reshaped air intakes, fog lights etc.
Rest of the vehicle should resemble previous generations. The 2019 Volvo XC70 will come in a familiar crossover/station wagon layout, which combines practicality and interior/cargo volume with high ground clearance. Of course, we would be disappointed if we wouldn’t see the famous boxy approach at the rear end.
