2020 Acura RDX Hybrid, Redesign, Specs

Despite the redesign, 2020 Acura RDX won’t come with some radical changes. Simply, you don’t change the things that are doing well. This model marks constant sales growth for almost a decade, so it’s no wonder that the company sticks with the proven formula. The new model will represent the third generation of this athletic compact crossover. Though the base design approach seems quite similar to the previous model, you will notice that the new model is a little bit longer. Of course, it will come with a completely new styling, with sharper lines and more attractive overall appearance.

The interior will be new as well, with plenty of new technologies too. Finally, there is a new engine, more efficient and with more low-end torque than before. All in all, this redesign will bring a bunch of novelties, definitely worth waiting.

The CR-V-based luxury SUV will come with plenty of new things for this occasion. As we’ve already mentioned, there are some changes in dimensions. The 2020 Acura RDX will get around 2.5 inches in wheelbase, which should provide more space on the inside and better overall comfort. The new platform is about to bring several other benefits. Of course, the new body will be lighter, but the company claims excellent stiffness.

This model has always been characterized by excellent handling and it looks like Acura is raising the pole to the next level. We are about to see the newest version of the company’s Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive, which is about to stand 40% more torque now. Also, 2020 Acura RDX will come with Integrated Dynamic System, inspired by NSX supercar. This would mean four damper settings – Sport, Sport+, Comfort, and Snow.

The 2020 Acura RDX will be the first model to completely adopt the brand’s new design language, which has been premiered two years ago with Acura Precision Concept. This crossover will be highlighted by a new pentagon grille, as well as new LED headlights. According to the latest reports, complete lighting will feature LEDs. The whole body comes with a much sharper approach, clearly pointing to the crossover’s excellent driving dynamics. Also, you will notice a few lines that go along the whole body, all away to the rear end, which makes crossover look longer. We expect to see a performance version in the next few years as well. In this case, the new model should get additional treatment, which will accentuate its sporty character even more.

Another aspect where 2020 Acura RDX will come with nice upgrades. The first thing that you’ll notice inside the new model will be the materials quality. Acura has always been known for its quality, but this one really has that luxurious approach. The cabin comes with plenty of novelties, including new seats made of hi-quality Nappa leather. Still, the new dashboard seems to be the main highlight. There is a new shape, which doesn’t include plenty of horizontal lines like most competitors. The center area features a large 10.2-inch touchscreen which seems to sit pretty high. Acura makes a nice combination of digital and analog buttons, so the new Android-based infotainment system can be via either touchscreen or analog controls. Head-up display and new-generation voice control are other things that we could expect to see in 2020 RDX.

One of the biggest changes that are coming with this redesign is the engine. Instead of large naturally-aspirated V6, the new model relies on an efficient turbo inline-four unit. It is a new 2.0-liter engine, which has a max output of 272 horsepower, which is far more compared to key competitors. Also, the new engine provides about 40% more low-end torque than the V6, which should make a significant impact of the driving experience. Of course, there is a new 10-speed automatic transmission. In the future, we could expect some hi-performance version, probably with the same engine, but with a significant power boost.

2020 Acura RDX Release date and price

The 2020 Acura RDX should come sometime in the second half of the next year. However, we still don’t have more precise details about the launch date. Price shouldn’t be changed much compared to the current model. The base version will be available at 37.000 dollars. On the other side, top-range models could easily go over 50.000 dollars. Competition is pretty tough. This segment is full of quality crossover, but this model holds the position of one of the class-leaders tightly. Some of the rivals are models like Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
