2020 Audi Q2 Spy Shots, E-tron, Changes

Latest reports suggest that the 2020 Audi Q2 is about to receive a facelift that will include numerous changes, far more than just aesthetical upgrades. The small crossover has been around for about three years. It is one of the smallest SUVs you can find around but the company has big plans for it.

It will come with numerous upgrades for the next year but the most interesting novelty will definitely be a new, all-electric version, under the famous e-tron badge. It will come with plenty of range, but with a couple of aesthetical upgrades as well. On the other side, the rest of the lineup will continue with familiar units, which means both economical and powerful choices. The new model will probably hit the market a little bit earlier than usual, but still in the last quarter of the year, most likely.

2020 Audi Q2 Redesign

The Q2 is designed as a small city crossover and it is one of the smallest vehicles you can find in this class. For comparison, it is a little bit shorter compared to the Audi A3 Sportback. On the other side, it features higher ground clearance and comes with a typical crossover stance. For the next year, we are about to see a facelift.

The testing model has been spotted already and it looks like there is a fine amount of changes. Of course, most of them will come at the front but don’t count on any significant modification. This manufacturer is well-known for its cautious approach when it comes to styling changes and the 2020 Audi Q2 shouldn’t be much different compared to the current model. A couple of minor tweaks, along with new colors and wheels, is practically all you can expect from this update.

2020 Q2 Interior

The cabin of the 2020 Audi Q2 probably won’t feature any important change. The upcoming update won’t affect the dashboard layout at all. We are about to see the same design, which is heavily inspired by the A3 Sportback model. In practice, this means relatively blend dash look, with recognizable circular air vents and tablet-like touchscreen on the center stack. For the next year, the main novelties will be in terms of standard equipment. We should see a couple of additions, as well as updates of familiar tech goodies. Finally, count on new color schemes and similar things.

2020 Audi Q2 Engines

With the exception of the new all-electric version, the 2020 Audi Q2 powertrain lineup will remain pretty much untouched. Therefore, base models will continue with a small 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit, which seems good for city ride, but highway speeds could be a real struggle. Therefore, a 1.4-liter TSI with around 150 horsepower seems like a much better choice. Finally, there is a 2.0-liter engine delivers around 190 horsepower.

On the other side, the diesel lineup consists of two familiar TDI units. Besides a smaller 1.6-liter unit, there is a more capable 2.0-liter engine with around 150 horsepower.

Some reports suggest a hi-performance, RS model in the future as well. Of course, it should come with a familiar 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with around 300 horsepower.

2020 Audi Q2 e-tron

The biggest novelty for the next year should be a new 2020 Audi Q2 e-Tron. The all-electric version of this crossover will come with lots of interesting design solutions. Of course, it is mostly about all electric drivetrain. Although exact details about electric motors and battery are still unknown, most reports suggest that the new model will be characterized by a very long range, which should go over 300 miles.

The 2020 Audi Q2 e-Tron will come with a couple of changes in terms of styling as well. The first thing that comes to mind is a new grille, which should be closed, typically for electric cars. We count on several more distinctive details, such as new wheels, unique color options etc. On the inside, things should remain pretty much the same. The overall layout won’t suffer at all but count on a new instrument cluster, as well as on new color schemes and a long list of standard equipment.

This will be the smallest electric car in the company’s lineup. When it comes to the competition, some of the potential rivals are most like Kia Niro, DS3 Crossback E-Tense, Tesla Model Y etc.

2020 Q2 Release Date and Price

Despite numerous changes, the 2020 Audi Q2 won’t come much earlier than usual. It will come in the last quarter of the year. In terms of the price, base models will keep a similar tag, which currently goes around 24.000 Euros, but higher trims can jump significantly higher. The new e-tron also won’t be cheap. Moreover, its price will be pretty strong, as most reports suggest something like 35.000 dollars for the most basic version.
