Audi continues with the expansion of its SUV lineup and one of the upcoming models is the 2020 Audi Q6. With the current situation on the market, where crossovers are taking over the automotive industry, it’s no wonder that there are more and more premium carmakers that offer so-called coupe-like SUVs, in order to provide an additional dose of luxury to potential customers.
It all started with the BMW X6 and German manufacturers are leading this interesting trend even in these days. Mercedes-Benz already has a whole range of its coupe crossover and now it’s Audi’s turn. One of the first Audi’s of this kind should come already in the next year, with recognizable sloping roof layout, as well as with several more distinctive design solutions. If we can rely on the latest reports, the 2020 Audi Q6 will have its premiere already in the first half of next year.
2020 Audi Q6 Design
On today’s market, full of various kinds of numbering designations, Audi definitely doesn’t want to confuse its customers. So, we expect to see the same relation between even- and odd-numbered models like in the Bavarian rival. This clearly indicated that the new 2020 Audi Q6 will be in a tight relationship with the Q5 compact crossover. This model has been around for almost a decade and the second generation came last year. With such recent redesign, its design definitely looks suitable for the all-new coupe crossover. The two models will feature pretty much identical mechanics. A familiar MLB architecture has been updated recently and we won’t be surprised to see even the same 110 inches in a wheelbase. Complete chassis should be the same, while the styling will definitely be the most distinctive aspect of the 2020 Audi Q6.
2020 Audi Q6 Styling
This is the diving point between two crossovers. Compared to the Q5, the 2020 Audi Q6 will put more focus on style, while sacrificing practicality. We expect to see a familiar approach that will involve a sloping roof design. The front end will probably be pretty much the same. The Q5 has been redesigned recently and it completely follows the brand’s newest design language. Still, a couple of distinctive details are possible. On the other side, the rear end will be different in several aspect. Besides different roofline, the rear end will most likely come with different taillights and tailgate design, which will probably come in a manner that resembles Audi’s Sportback models. Other than that, we could see new wheels designs and few more details from a side.
2020 Audi Q6 Interior
In one way, the 2020 Audi Q6 interior will be very close to the interior of its odd-numbered sibling, but also significantly different in the other. When it comes to the overall cabin layout, there is no doubt that this model is going to be less practical. Count on less cargo space and less headroom at back seats. On the other side, we will see the same, very high level of the materials quality and probably the same dashboard design. This means that the 2020 Audi Q6 will be full of top-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces and attractive dashboard lines.
The recently-redesigned Q5 comes with a pretty long list of standard equipment, especially in terms of tech features. We expect the same from the new model, so count on the Audi’s famous 12.3-inch virtual cockpit. Base models will probably feature a 7-inch touchscreen interface, but a larger 8.0-inch screen will be available as well, just like all these gadgetry and connectivity features from the Audi Connect Prime suite.
2020 Audi Q6 Engines
It will be interesting to see what Audi is going to offer in the new crossover. The current Q5 comes with only two engines in the offer for the North American market. Those are a base 2.0-liter inline-four with 252 horsepower and a 354-hp 3.0-liter V6. Things are a little bit better in Europe, where you can also find a familiar TDI oil-burners in the offer. Considering that many experts see the 2020 Audi Q6 as an upscale models, it would be very interesting to see some kind of hi-performance version. For this occasion, we can count on something more powerful. There a great chance to see a tuned version of the current V6. Moreover, the new crossover could also borrow a 3.6-liter unit from Porsche, in order to get additional muscle.
2020 Audi Q6 Release Date and Price
It is still hard to make some more precise estimation about 2020 Audi Q6 release date, considering that we are still waiting to hear some words from the officials. A few reports suggest a premiere in the first half of next year. Sales should start a couple of months later. When it comes to the price, we expect that the base model will go somewhere around 50.000 dollars.
