2020 Audi Q7 Changes, Facelift

Mid-cycle refreshes became a must among carmakers and this model won’t be an exception either. Things are getting more complicated as more mid-size luxury crossovers are coming to the market. Therefore, there isn’t too much time to think. Even a conservative manufacturer like Audi is forced to make styling changes more often, so we are about to see a fine bunch of novelties in the next year. The current generation is entering the fourth year of production. One more and it will be a perfect time for a major update. Of course, the focus will be on the visual appearance. Still, those won’t be only changes to come, so the 2020 Audi Q7 update should be a little bit more than a facelift. Latest reports suggest interior changes as well, both in terms of styling and more standard equipment. The new model will come next year.

2020 Audi Q7 Redesign

The testing model has been spotted already and we can notice a lot of covered areas. Still, we don’t expect bigger changes in terms of mechanics and overall design. The 2020 Audi Q7 will continue to ride on a familiar MLB platform, sharing most parts with the models like VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne etc. Count on same overall shape and dimensions. On the other side, we will see lots of visual updates.

Styling

When it comes to the styling, spy photos show a lot of camouflaged areas. Therefore, it seems easy to make a conclusion on which parts of the car are about to get novelties. Of course, most of the changes will come at the front end. The most obvious is the front bumper. It will come with a fine reshaping, with sharper lines and new design of areas like fog lights, air intakes etc. Besides the new front bumper, we expect to see some rework of the front fascia. On the other side, headlights will most likely keep the familiar shape.

Other parts of the crossover will suffer as well. Of course, the rear end will follow all the styling changes from the front. So, rear bumper should receive some changes as well. Besides the bumper, we could see some tweaks to the tailgate, lighting groups and probably new exhaust tips.

Finally, count on more color options and new wheels design. Interestingly, fender flares are covered with the camouflage as well, which indicate that the 2020 Audi Q7 could also gain some muscle.

2020 Audi Q7 Interior

As you can see, exterior changes will be numerous. The interior modifications won’t be so intense, though you can bet on some interesting novelties. Of course, the base layout will remain unchanged. This model rides on an MLB platform, which offers a good balance between the size and athletic characteristics. Therefore, you can count on fine amoung of legroom, but definitely not class-leading results. Same goes for the cargo area.

While the base cabin design is about to remain the same, visual appearance could receive a fine amount of novelties. Of course, the dashboard is the first thing that comes to our minds. Expect to see some minimal modifications on the center stack and similar areas. Also, some reports suggest that the company’s fancy digital cluster, aka Virtual Cockpit, could become available in lower trim levels as well. Of course, each trim level should come with a fine amount of new standard features as well. The base organization will remain the same. There is no confusion with numerous trim levels and packages. This crossover comes in three versions only. Those are Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. As we already mentioned, each one should come with more standard equipment next year.

2020 Audi Q7 Engines

This aspect of the 2020 Audi Q7 probably won’t suffer at all. There are some reports that this update could bring a new, plug-in hybrid version. However, There is no official statement from Audi’s management, so take these rumors with a dose of a reserve.
On the other side, gasoline lineup remains familiar. This crossover comes with two gasoline units. Base models feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. It has a max output of 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Seems like a fine amount of power but things get even better with the optional V6. Of course, we are talking about a familiar 3.0-liter engine that delivers around 333 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. It offers much better acceleration and overall performances while keeping fuel economy at the same level. With both engines, this crossover returns around 19 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. Both versions come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price

As you can see, the 2020 Audi Q7 is expected to come with plenty of novelties. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the new model will come earlier than usual, though we also believe that the company will stick to the second half of next year when it comes to the launch date. Price should remain same or similar, which would mean around 50.000 dollars for the base model.

  1. Hmmm

Instituting superficial styling changes to the front and rear ends while keeping the entire chassis, including drive train identical to last years model remains one of the easiest (and cheapest) ways for car companies to (hopefully) attract new customers to a car who’s sales have stalled while waiting for full refresh.

The bottom line here is that the competition is killing the Audi Q7. In 2020 the Audi Q7 appears almost pedestrian in the face of stiff competition And a big part of that problem is that the Q7’s competitors almost universally offer not only better transmissions and more powerful engine options but more appealing aesthetics as well. IMHO
