2020 Buick Enclave Changes, Colors and Specs

After the last-year redesign, this mid-size SUV entered the second year of production pretty quietly. However, the third one will be completely different, according to the latest reports. Despite the fact it will still be pretty fresh, the company is about to introduce some interesting novelties for the 2020 Buick Enclave. Of course, it won’t be a mid-cycle refresh. It definitely seems too early for such major updates. On the other side, the Enclave will expand its already long list of standard equipment even more. More importantly, it should offer something completely new. It looks like the GM’s new Super Cruise self-driving system will debut in a Buick sooner that most of us would expect. Other than that, the 2020 Buick Enclave could get few minor cosmetic upgrades, but the core will definitely remain the same.

2020 Buick Enclave Changes

As we already mentioned, a new Super Cruise system will definitely be the biggest novelty for the 2020 Buick Enclave, if we can trust the latest reports. At the moment, this system is reserved for upscale Cadillac models only. It should find its place in a couple of Chevy models in the near future as well. Naturally, Buick is next in the line, and Enclave as the brand’s flagship model. So, what is the deal with the new Super Cruise system? GM engineers call this feature the world’s first hands-free system for the freeway. It works on the pretty much same principle as Tesla’s Autopilot. In practice, this means you will be able to enjoy a handsfree ride on the highway. The system will keep you in the lane, and also safe from the vehicles that are in front or behind you.

Other than the new semi-autonomous driving system, the new model should keep in the same way. Of course, expect a couple of aesthetical upgrades, like new 2020 Buick Enclave colors, interior schemes, and similar things.

When it comes to overall design characteristics, there is no place for bigger changes at the moment. The new generation came just a year ago and there is no need for bigger updates in the next few years. The new generation rides on a C1XX platform, which makes the Enclave lighter than before, which has a positive effect not only on efficiency but on driving dynamics as well. Also, there is a brand-new design language, with which Buick is finally done with funny-looking, outdated lines of the previous generation. Another benefit from the platform is a completely new suspension. In a combination with better sound isolation, it makes the driving experience much better.

2020 Buick Enclave Interior Design

The 2020 Buick Enclave shouldn’t feature bigger changes on the inside. We’ve already suggested a possibility of new color schemes and that should be the only notable change, along with additional standard features for each trim level. On the other side, the overall cabin layout will remain the same. This crossover offers a well-designed cabin, though some competitors still offer a little bit better interior quality. In terms of space, this SUV is among class-leader. Interestingly, even the base model comes with second-row captain’s chairs, so the first two rows offer plenty of legroom and comforts. The third row also offers lots of space and features a bench that can easily accommodate three average-sized passengers.

Finally, there is an impressive list of standard tech features. While a touchscreen and Bluetooth are common features for the segment, things like smartphone integration, Wi-Fi hotspot, satellite radio, and six USB ports are definitely nice additions.

The powertrain is another aspect where we don’t expect bigger surprises for the 2020 Buick Enclave. There is a familiar 3.6-liter unit, which for this occasion delivers around 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Transmission is a new 9-speed automatic, which sends power to front wheels. All-wheel drive is optional. Such a combination of power and new-generation transmission provides not just strong acceleration numbers, but a butter smooth ride as well. When it comes to fuel economy, you can count on class-average ratings. This means around 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. If you choose an AWD model, the economy drops for about 1 mpg.

Besides a familiar V6 unit, some reports suggest that the company could introduce a new turbo inline-four unit as an option. However, we haven’t heard anything from the officials, so take this with a dose of a reserve.

2020 Buick Enclave Release Date and Price

Expect to see 2020 Buick Enclave late in the next year. Despite the new Super Cruise system, the price shouldn’t be changed too much. So, expect a familiar range that goes between 40.000 and 56.000 dollars, roughly.

Competition is pretty tough. This crossover walks on a fine line between mainstream and luxury mid-size crossovers. So it competes with models from both segments. Some of the rivals are mainstream models like Toyota Highlander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Mazda CX-9, as well as luxury SUVs like Infiniti QX60, Cadillac XT5, Lincoln Nautilus etc.

  1. I initially purchased a new 2017 Enclave Premier in March 2018. I really enjoyed driving this car, however, I’m already old (80) & have trouble remembering how to operate all the tech features. That’s no big deal, I was still to operate all the features when needed. Now, this March 2019, I traded that one in on a new 2019 Enclave Premier. I didn’t realize before that the interior had changed somewhat for the driver. Now I’m having to learn all the tech operating features again. No problem, I really enjoy the vehicle, even gets a little better mileage, probably because of the new 9-speed transmission. Both cars are silver color so most people don’t even know I’ve changed & that’s the way I like it. Silver is my favorite color in a car since I saw the first one when I was in Germany in the 60’s, a new silver Mercedes. Looking forward to the 2020 Enclave, probably will trade for one.
