Enclave, Encore, and Envision are parts of the current Buick SUV squad. The fourth member of the lineup will be an all-electric model. The prototype was presented in China, and it is called Enspire. The EV model is still just a concept, but the production could start soon. It had a debut at Auto China 2018 and the 2020 Buick Enspire could be the first production version. By this move, the GM’s branch is challenging Ford, Tesla, Rivian, and all other companies, which are in the all-electric division or plan to get there soon.
The concept is showing promises. The new SUV will go up to 370 miles in a single charge. Also, its look is distinctive and aesthetic. One of the things that caused a lot of discussions is the lack of door handles. Some new technology could arrive with this luxury SUV. Well, the new look carries some of the well-known Buick features and design cues. We still don’t know the precise info about prices and release date. Well, the US company gave us some hints about the 2020 Buick Enspire, but nothing is carved in stone yet.
2020 Buick Enspire Range and Electric Motors Specs
The company did present the 2020 Buick Enspire, but they owe us a lot of explanation. Yes, they are giving some hints about the range, but this is not official yet. According to trusted sources, the new all-electric SUV will get a range of 370 miles. On the other hand, we still don’t know what kind of motors the new Enspire is going to use. What else we know about this SUV? It will carry the eMotion electric propulsion tech. This is advanced technology, a kind of all-wheel drive for EVs. Efficiency is the key and either front or rear axle will get power from the battery. The system will be smooth although the motor bursts 550 horsepower. That will be enough to stop the clock at four seconds for 0-60 sprint.
The new 2020 Buick Enspire will have a great range, but what about recharging the battery? The new technology is going to speed up the refill. It will take 40 minutes to charge 80 percent of the electric battery. Of course, the speed charger is plugged. Buick announced that wireless charging is available for the Enspire SUV. Compared to the Chevy Bolt, the new model is bigger, it has a higher range, and it will cost more. Bolt can go 238 miles between recharges.
2020 Buick Enspire Concept
The debut at the Beijing Auto Show in 2018 showed us some spectacular solutions for the new SUV. Well, the company did some investigation while creating the new 2020 Buick Enspire, so the vehicle could meet the demands of this particular market. The focus was on shape and aerodynamics. The SUV is very aggressive. The front fascia is wide, with narrow headlights. The grille is all-new, but we can find similarities with the latest solutions we see on other Buick models. There are two other concepts fans could see recently, that was used as inspiration for Enspire. These are Avista and Velite platforms. These concepts will borrow some solutions for the lower fascia at both ends.
Doors of the 2020 Buick Enspire don’t have handles. We believe the company will introduce a special hands-free opening technology. Doors will open either through an app on the mobile phone, or there will be some recognition systems.
There are no many details about the 2020 Buick Enspire interior. The concept was described as skyline theme with theatre-type seating. Well, buyers will get a lot of LED lamps inside the cockpit. Center console is made of microfiber in combination with the natural wood grain. A 5G connectivity was the part of the concept in 2018 and we could see it in production version as well next year. The 2020 Buick Enspire will be comfortable and spacious.
2020 Buick Enspire Release Date
The concept seems to be very close to something Buick could launch as a production model. However, it is questionable where the 2020 Buick Enspire could appear. One thing is sure – the Chinese market. It is one of the fastest-growing areas and buyers over there are more interested in electric and hybrid drivetrains. Also, GM sells a lot of Buick SUVs there, so there is not a surprise why we could see the new Enspire only there. Well, it is just a matter of time when it is going to arrive in the US. Besides the 2020 Buick Enspire, in the next couple of years, General Motors will launch 20 electric models.
The company is not announcing the pricing list of the new 2020 Buick Enspire. Well, it will heavily depend on size and electric battery capacity. GM will follow what Tesla and Rivian are doing to respond and challenge the leading companies in the electric segment. If everything goes right, the Enspire’s production will start in 2020 and the EV will arrive in the US in 2021.
