After Navigator’s last-year launch, engineers from GM have speeded up the redesign process of the flagship SUV, so the new generation will come already as 2020 Cadillac Escalade. The famous nameplate has been around for years and it established a great position on the market, as one of the most prominent U.S. luxury SUVs, along with Lincoln Navigator.
The original model came in 1999. So far, there have been four generations of it. The current model is present since 2014, which would sound to recent for a complete redesign. However, the company doesn’t want to waste the time, but to be competitive at once. The new model will bring a lot of new design solutions. Of course, this redesign is about to bring significant changes in terms of styling as well. After all, this is the aspect that actually has the biggest impact on sales numbers. For this occasion, we are expecting to see plenty of novelties. This model always had a special treatment, which doesn’t wonder at all, considering its flagship position on the market. The new model will rely on the recent Escala concept. This sedan introduced the brand’s newest design philosophy and 2020 Cadillac Escalade will go in the same direction. 2020 Cadillac Escalade Gets a New V8 Engine
Another important novelty of this redesign will be a GM’s brand-new engine. It is a 4.2-liter twin-turbo unit, which comes with a completely new design, not in relation with current V8 units that company offers. Though the exact numbers are still unknown, a max output should figure in upper 400s, and with more than 500 pound-feet of max torque. Some unofficial reports suggest even greater numbers, where a max power will go around 550 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. The new engine will come in a pair with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which will be sending the power to rear wheels. Of course, an AWD will be available too. Before new 2020 Cadillac Escalade, this engine should have its premiere in the new 2019 Cadillac CT6.
Besides a new V8 unit, we expect to see a proven 6.2-liter engine in the offer as well. This unit will be reserved probably for some kind of a hi-performance version. We should see numbers that can be four in versions that are in use for iconic sports cars Corvette and Camaro.
