2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country Review

Chevrolet Tahoe is the full-size SUV that is heading to the new generation. Unfortunately, that is not happening next year, but in the 2021 season. Until then, the vehicle comes unchanged, with minor tweaks on some models. One of the key additions for the next SUV is the new premium package that increases the value of the vehicle. The 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country is not going to wait for the new generation to debut.

Among many spy shots, photographers caught a full-size SUV with familiar upgrades. This model reminds us of things we are getting with the Silverado High Country package. Immediately, the news arrived – the 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country model is arriving before the new generation. Leaking sources are claiming the company plans to add this trim to the lineup to keep enthusiasts on alert for the next-gen Tahoe.

2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country Accessories

The 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country is going to be top of the class trim level with most upgrades. Currently, the SUV is available in LS, LT, and Premier editions. Also, a 5.3-liter and 6.2-l unit are available. The new High Country SUV is using the most powerful edition, and that will definitely be a 6.2-l displacement.

The package is different from others thanks to the unique grille with chrome and bronze finishes. Also, the SUV is getting a new power liftgate, unique colors, and 20-inch wheels. Do not be surprised if the GM launches parts very similar to the ones Silverado 1500 truck is using.

Interior Accessories

The highlight of the 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country will be the infotainment system. The company doesn’t spare upgrades and the model comes with some of the most advanced accessories. Standard offer includes a Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system. An 8-inch touchscreen display and navigation are part of this package. Also, the High Country is using Bluetooth audio streaming, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto services, Bose audio, Sirius XM system with trial period…

It is not all about infotainment upgrades. The Heavy Country also improves overall comfort and elegance. 10-way power buckets are installed front. Heated and ventilated seats are in the front row. You can control functions separately. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather, it is heated, and offers plenty of control buttons.

Exterior

You will recognize the 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country thanks to the huge 20-inch aluminum machined wheels. Off-road tires are wrapping them. Bumpers are in body colors. We already mentioned the special grille with unique accents. Also, there are high-intensity LED headlamps. Daytime running lights are standard, as well as the fog lamps. Heated outside mirrors with memory setup and painted caps, deep-tinted windows that protect you from the sun, and chrome door handles are also parts of the High Country package.

2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country Safety

The company thinks about the safety of passengers inside their vehicles as well. The 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country will take up to seven passengers, and all of them will get protection by airbags. StabiliTrak comes with a stability control system and traction control. The electronic trailer will be helpful for sway and hill starts. The company will update the OnStar and Chevy Connected services to the latest editions. Rear-view camera with rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot and lane change warning, and tire pressure monitoring system are also included.

2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country Specs

Currently, there are two drivetrains available for the Tahoe. The company is going to carry over both of them for the next generation. The base unit is a 5.3-liter V8 engine. It can produce 355 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. Slight tuning could push outputs a bit higher. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard and it sends power to rear wheels. Optional AWD provides better traction and balance. Since the 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country is going to be an off-road capable model, engineers could cut a 2WD.

In the matter of fact, it is still unknown if the 5.3-l displacement is going to be available for High Country. Top of the line model at the moment, Premier, is better known for its 6.2-liter V8 engine. This one produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Also, the transmission is a 10-speed automatic.

The least likely option is a diesel unit. Experts believe the big SUV will borrow the drivetrain from the Silverado truck. However, we can’t say if this unit is going to be available for the 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country. Even if it appears, it will be part of the next-gen upgrade happening in 2021.

2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country Price

The price of the 2020 Chevy Tahoe High Country will top the current most expensive offer. The base Tahoe will stay put at $50,000. Premier trim level adds features in value of $14,000. A 6.2-l engine makes the difference go up to $20,000. High Country trim will probably start at $75,000 with a 6.2 engine or $70,000 with 5.3-l displacement.
