It looks like this crossover is getting to the end of production, after just one generation. In the company’s latest plans, there is no place for this crossover, so the 2020 Dodge Journey will probably be the last production model.
The original version came in 2009. It is a pretty common mid-size crossover, which offers plenty of space and strong construction, as well as a powerful V6 engine. However, it hasn’t changed a lot since the initial launch, despite few updates, so it seems a little bit outdated compared to main competitors.
The upcoming model probably won’t bring any more important novelty. We will see a familiar design, with familiar styling and cabin, though some novelties in terms of standard equipment are quite possible. Expect to see 2020 Journey next year.
2020 Dodge Journey redesign
There is no place for changes in terms of base design characteristics. The 2020 Dodge Journey will continue in the same way. Despite a quite rugged appearance, this model features a carlike, familiar JC platform. It is a classic mid-size crossover, characterized by a look that hasn’t changed so much during all these years. Compared to the competition, this one definitely looks a little bit outdated. It’s not even adapted to the Dodge’s new design language, which is a clear indicator that there’s no bright future for it. Despite its age, 2020 Dodge Journey will definitely have few trumps.
2020 Dodge Journey interior
The interior design is definitely a good thing about this crossover. First of all, this is a pretty big vehicle, which can accommodate up to seven passengers. The cabin offers plenty of legroom, even in the third row of seating. On the other side, cargo space is very limited and definitely one of the weakest points compared to the competition.
On the other side, the dashboard looks very good. It comes with an attractive styling, while all materials in the cabin feature a high level of quality. Moreover, there is a pretty intuitive touchscreen interface, which is the aspect where 2020 Dodge Journey will be better than even some much younger competitors. Base models feature a quite small 4.3-inch screen, while higher trim comes with an almost two times bigger 8.4-inch touchscreen.
2020 Dodge Journey trim levels
In terms of standard equipment, the 2020 Dodge Journey shouldn’t change too much. Though there is few possible novelties, the base equipment structure is about to remain unchanged. There will be four trim levels in the offer. The base trim is called SE and it is a very basic model. Some of the highlights are 17-inch wheels, 4.3-inch touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control, 6-speaker audio system.
Next in the line is SXT, which adds few very useful things, but the most notable is definitely a large 8.4-inch touchscreen. However, Bluetooth is optional. The Crossroad trim would be a much better choice. This model finally comes with standard features that are a common thing among base version of competing models. With this one, you can count on things like 19-inch wheels, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control etc. Finally, there is a GT trim, which adds a bit of a luxury. Some of the highlights are things like leather upholstery, heated seats and steering wheel, premium audio system etc.
2020 Dodge Journey engines
Under the hood of the 2020 Dodge Journey, you will find two very familiar engines. The base one an older version of the familiar 2.4-liter inline-four engine, which delivers around 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a four-speed automatic transmission, which is a clearly shows how old this crossover actually is. Still, you can count on a quite decent number in terms of fuel economy. In the city, you can count on 19 miles per gallon, while on the highway you can count on 25.
On the other side, a familiar 3.6-liter V6 seems like a much better choice. It features a max output 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. With such amount of power, you can count on pretty good acceleration numbers and overall performances. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, so it’s no wonder that the fuel economy isn’t too much lower compared to the base inline-four unit. It goes around 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
2020 Dodge Journey release date and price
We expect to see 2020 Dodge Journey sometime late in the next year. The thing that could attract a lot of people is a very affordable price. Base models are available already for 24.000 dollars, which seems pretty cheap for a mid-size crossover. On the other side, fully-equipped models usually cost no more than 35.000 dollars
