2020 Ford Bronco Diesel: Spy Photos, Interior and Release Date

For full three decades, the Bronco was one of the company’s most popular SUVs. Introduced in 1966, this model was produced in five generations, since 1996. Since its sudden discontinuation, people have been speculating about its comeback. During this long 22 years of absence, the closest thing to a comeback was a concept from 2004. This model came with a pretty unique exterior design, characterized by extremely rugged and boxy shape, as well as with a completely different design language compared to the rest of the company’s lineup of that time. Many years later, the 2020 Ford Bronco became a certain thing.

2020 Ford Bronco Diesel review

After a 22-year hiatus, the famous nameplate is coming back. So far, we managed to get plenty of details about the new SUV, though most of the things are still a mystery. Interestingly, many reports suggest of the 2020 Ford Bronco Diesel version as well.

There has been a lot of talk about the new Bronco and from what we can hear from the company’s officials, the new model will utilize the platform from the upcoming Ford Ranger Pickup. The famous truck remained in production after the U.S. discontinuation. Its main market was Australia, so this is the department that designed the newest version of the popular truck. After many years, the Ranger is coming back to the U.S. market.

Of course, the current Australian model will serve as an inspiration, though we expect to see lots of modifications. Along with the new truck, the Bronco will come. At the moment, we can presume that the new SUV will be based on the Australian model called Everest. This SUV has been around for years. It has been produced based on the same platform as the Ranger, so there is no doubt it will inspire the new 2020 Ford Bronco Diesel as well.

The current platform will be upgraded in many ways. First of all, we will see a massive use of lightweight materials, thanks to design solutions borrowed directly from the F-150. In practice, this means a lot of HSS and aluminum. Such an approach will provide much better efficiency, along with better performances and overall driving experience.

2020 Ford Bronco Diesel Styling

This aspect is still very intriguing. Last time we saw the Bronco SUV, it features a pretty uncommon, rugged and boxy shape with plenty of interesting design solutions. Of course, we are talking about the 2004-year concept. The new model probably won’t go that extreme, but we expect to see lots of distinctive details, compared to the rest of the company’s SUV lineup. While the many mechanical parts will be from the Everest, many see a Brazilian Troller as a visual inspiration for the new 2020 Ford Bronco Diesel. This SUV is sold exclusively in Brazil and it comes with pretty unusual styling that puts focus on off-road capabilities in a combination with uncommon styling solutions. Just like the rest of the versions, the 2020 Ford Bronco Diesel will also come as a three-door SUV. A bigger cab layout is possible as well.

Interior

Another aspect that is a complete mystery. Many people expect to see an interior design that follows all the attractive design solutions from the exterior layout. However, there has always been one thing called production costs. The 2020 Ford Bronco Diesel will probably come with some more common cabin layout, probably inspired by the new Ranger pickup, in a combination with details from models like Expedition, Everest and even some crossovers. This SUV is seen as the Wrangler’s direct competitor. So, expect a pretty rugged interior design, which will rather feature durable materials instead of soft-touch surfaces. Of course, count on lots of standard equipment, including the latest tech features.

2020 Ford Bronco Diesel Engine

Besides gasoline engines, this SUV will come with an oil-burner as well. The 2020 Ford Bronco Diesel will be an efficient alternative for all those economy-minded potential customers. Though we are still waiting for the official confirmation, a new engine that has been prepared for the Ranger Raptor should also find a place under the hood of this SUV. We are talking about a twin-turbo 2.0-liter engine, which delivers around 210 horsepower and impressive 370 pound-feet of torque. It will come paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which promises a pretty smooth ride.

Besides this diesel engine and several gasoline versions, the new Bronco could come in a hybrid version as well. According to some reports, this would be the most powerful version of the new SUV, which would probably feature a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine in combinations with electric motors, for a total output of 325 horsepower.
