2020 Ford Everest Review, Interior, Titanium

The new 2020 Ford Everest is refreshed and ready to hit more markets. The SUV is a close sibling to the Ranger truck. It is a pretty common thing in Asian and Australian market, where we can find Toyota Hilux and its submodel for the USV segment, Fortuner. The new Everest is offering a more aggressive appearance and better capabilities. Thanks to the new configuration, the vehicle can crunch 213 horsepower.

Although we expected a redesign, the Blue Oval company brought a minor facelift for the upcoming SUV. Presented in the Philippines, we saw the vehicle with the new chrome grille and revisited bumper. Sadly, designers didn’t update rims and buyers will get the same 20-inch wheels like the last edition. Also, we expected more options, but the 2020 Ford Everest is going to be available only in 4×2 and 4×4 Titanium configurations.

The interior of the SUV is premium, with a lot of connectivity and safety options. For the next edition, we will find leather upholstery, zonal climate control, charging ports, and many more accessories. Under the hood, there are petrol and diesel engines. The biggest update is the new 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbo-diesel drivetrain with 213 hp. With it, fans will get the new 10-speed power router.

2020 Ford Everest Drivetrains

The change that interests us the most is under the hood. The 2020 Ford Everest replaced its old diesel drivetrains – a 2.2 and 3.2 Duratorq units. Now, there is only a 2.0-liter turbodiesel under the bonnet. Don’t worry, engineers prepared two setups.

The base SUV comes with 180 hp and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. In this case, there is a single turbocharger. With the bi-turbo system, the Everest will deliver 213 horsepower. Also, the torque gains 80 Nm (60 lb-ft). This configuration is available for the new Ranger Raptor truck. That means the new Everest SUV will be more capable for the off-road drive.

New Transmission for the New Engine

Besides the new drivetrain, the 2020 Ford Everest is getting the fresh gearbox. Instead of an old 6-speed transmission, there is a 10-speed automatic case. It brings a smoother gear switch and a better fuel economy. The company is not announcing details yet, but the SUV could gain up to 10 percent better consumption. On the other side, the old gearbox could still be available in some markets, or as an entry-level package. However, we highly recommend the new one.

Changes for 2020 Season

Let’s check what is new for the upcoming SUV. Definitely, the company is not redesigning Everest. Instead, we will see an update that will change the exterior and interior and make the vehicle more modern. Changes include a minor facelift. A three-bar grille takes the honeycomb style to create a more aggressive appearance. Also, there is a tweaked bumper.

The new 2020 Ford Everest is going to use advanced safety systems to bring peace of mind for its drivers. Passengers are feeling safe thanks to the anti-lock brakes. There is an electronic force to distribute energy. Airbags are standard, as well as the stability control system. Hill-start assist is a useful feature for an off-road drive. In urban areas, drivers will love parking sensors.

Other standard driver aid accessories are active park assist with rear-view camera and lane-keep warning. The new Everest is not replacing old rims. There are 20-inch wheels available both for turbo and bi-turbo model. For the other one, Ford confirmed the Titanium trim level. It will be up to buyers if they want 4×2 or 4×4 drive system.

2020 Ford Everest Price

Although it is not a vehicle for the US market, the 2020 Ford Everest is coming with a hefty price tag. Converted to USD, the base models will cost more than $30,000. The price goes up very quickly and the bi-turbo version with 213 hp and Titanium trim costs $39,000. Add $3,000 and you can get the AWD.

These two are the most expensive versions of the SUV. Wait for the release next year to get the full pricing list. The 2020 Ford Everest is coming before spring.

2020 Ford Everest vs Toyota Fortuner

Among many other rivals, the most similar offer comes from the Toyota Fortuner. The new Everest is going to be available in more markets than before. The Philippines are sure for now since the premiere of the vehicle happened there. Still, the Fortuner is a leader in most countries, and Ford needs strong marketing to keep up with the rival.

In India, you will find Everest as Ford Endeavour. Fortuner is not the only rival there, since Mitsubishi is making the new Pajero, and Nissan introduced Terra SUV for the Chinese market. Some people asked about the United States. Well, Everest has the potential to be interesting to US buyers. But, it needs to meet a lot of emission and efficiency standards before it hits this market. Ford will rather tune Explorer and Expedition.
