2020 GMC Acadia Denali, Facelift, Price

Despite relatively recent redesign, the company already prepares an update for the 2020 GMC Acadia. This mid-size crossover has been around for more than a decade. While the original model had a nine-year-long production cycle, it looks like the second generation won’t last for so long.

The new, updated version is already in development and should hit the market next year. For this occasion, we will see a bunch of novelties, both in visual and mechanical aspect. One of the most interesting changes will be a new automatic transmission. Also, expect subtle styling changes. Finally, we should see more standard equipment in the 2020 Acadia.

Just like it’s the case with every mid-cycle update, this one will also be mostly about visual upgrades. The current generation of this crossover is present for about two years. Meanwhile, GMC has introduced a new design language, so this quick refresh seems natural, especially if we consider that the current model hasn’t got any spectacular rating from reputable car magazines. Compared to class-leaders, it trails in many aspects, including comfort, refinement, drive dynamics etc.

So, a new styling should make the things a little bit better. We expect 2020 GMC Acadia to adopt the brand’s new design language, characterized a new shape of headlights, a new grille and much more. Basically, we should see something similar to recently introduced GMC Terrain. At the rear end, subtle changes are expected as well. We could see few tweaks to the rear bumper, as well as changes on tailgate, taillights etc.

While the exterior design is about to get a bunch of changes, the cabin of 2020 GMC Acadia probably won’t change too much. Moreover, we expect pretty much the same layout. The only possible changes we could see are minor tweaks to the dashboard, in terms of button reconfiguration and similar sort of things. On the other side, new standard features are always welcome, though the base trim level organization will probably remain the same.

2020 GMC Acadia Trim Levels

The current model is available in four trim levels and 2020 GMC Acadia should continue in the same way. The base SL model comes with standard features like 17-inch wheels, tri-zone automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, 6-speaker audio system etc.

The next one is called SLE. This version adds a lot of interesting things. Some of the highlights are LED daytime running lights, fog lights, bigger 18-inch screen, roof rails, power-adjustable driver’s seat, remote engine start etc.

The SLT looks like a bit of an upgrade. There are standard features like Bose audio system, upgraded infotainment system, leather upholstery, household-like 110V power outlet, sunroof etc. More importantly, there are numerous safety systems that are standard in this trim. Some of them are blind spot monitoring, parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic high beams and many other systems.

Finally, there is a well-known Denali version, which besides more equipment comes with some visual upgrades. In terms of standard features, you can count on xenon headlights, heated seats, navigation, power-adjustable steering wheel, a 360-degree camera and much more.

2020 GMC Acadia Engines

The 2020 GMC Acadia should continue with the same engines in the offer. Base models will use a familiar 2.5-liter unit, which delivers around 193 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, optional 3.6-liter V6 seems far more interesting, considering its max output of 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. You can count on pretty impressive performances with this engine. For example, 0-60 time goes just over 6 seconds, which is amazing considering the vehicle’s size.

The big novelty for this update is a new transmission. Instead of the current 6-speed gearbox, we will see a new 9-speed automatic, co-developed with Ford.

2020 GMC Acadia Competition

Buick Enclave seems like a natural competitor, considering that both brands walk on a fine line between mainstream and premium cars. In this case, Enclave is closer to the luxury segment. Compared to Acadia, it offers a more refined cabin, bigger touchscreen, and more standard features. However, it also costs much more, though many would say it doesn’t justify that extra cost. Considering the balance between price and value, Acadia still seems like a better deal. Compared to class leaders, 2020 GMC Acadia trails in many aspects. With models like Honda Pilot, VW Atlas, or Mazda CX-9, it definitely can’t compare in terms of refinement, interior quality, driving dynamics, despite the fact that all models feature similar price.

2020 GMC Acadia Release Date and Price

The 2020 GMC Acadia will arrive in the next year, though we can’t say anything more precise at the moment. Changes in price are not expected, so the base model should go around 29.000 dollars.
