Considering the fact that the new, fourth generation of this popular crossover came just recently, it seems pretty logical for 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe to continue without bigger changes. The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties, so changes for the second year of production seem unnecessary.
Still, latest reports suggest that we could see one completely new version, never seen before in this crossover. If you’re a Hyundai fan, you probably know that the company has formed a performance division some time ago. All models from this department feature “N” badge and 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe will be the third model to come with it. For this occasion, the company will present various modification, including both performance and styling enhancements, Expect to see this new version sometime in the second half of the next year.

When it comes to base design characteristics, the recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties. The new model gets a new architecture, which brings a lot of benefits in terms of driving dynamics. Also, the new models are bigger. It features for about 2-inch longer wheelbase, which is surely beneficial in terms of interior space, legroom, cargo volume etc. Still, the most notable changes are those in terms of styling.
Although the previous model aged pretty well, the new version looks far more mature. You can easily notice the new approach that relies on the brand’s newest design philosophy, which includes new grille design, narrow headlights, new bumper with much bigger lighting groups and ait intakes etc. Rest of the crossover suffered as well, so you can notice a lot of new details in other areas as well. Despite that fact that complete sheet metal has been replaced, the overall shape hasn’t changed that much.
2020 Hyundai Santa Fe Interior
The changes on the inside seem very effective. First of all, you can notice a completely new dashboard design, which looks far more upscale. The horizontal line now dominates, while a materials quality seems to be on a higher level. Of course, there are things like a new steering wheel, new touchscreen with new interface etc. Speaking of the touchscreen, it is now positioned higher. Base models feature a 7-inch screen, while those who choose a higher model can count on 8 inches, as well as on navigation system. As we’ve already mentioned, the new model features a 2-inch longer wheelbase, which provides more space on the inside. Just like the previous model, the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe in two variants, with either 5 or 7 seats. The first one is called Sport, while the other one has an “XL” badge.
2020 Hyundai Santa Fe Engines
Under the hood, we expect no bigger changes. There are three engines in the offer and all of them will continue in the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe.
Base models come with a familiar 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine, which delivers around 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque.
However, an optional 2.0-liter unit seems like a better choice. It is more advanced and also comes with a turbocharger, which makes it more efficient. It features a max output of 235 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there is a diesel version, available in three-row models only. This model features a familiar 2.2-liter CRDi unit, which is good for about 190 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. All models use the same 8-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Hyundai Santa Fe N
While standard models are about to continue without bigger changes, there is one completely new version to come. The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe N will be a performance model, which will come not only with more power and better performances but also with various visual enhancements. Compared to the base model, it will feature a new grille, wheels design and several other details. All of them will be blacked, unlike the standard model which insists on chrome.
On the inside, the 2020 Santa Fe N will get sportier seats and steering wheel, new trim and probably paddle shifters. Of course, expect a unique list of standard equipment as well. Things under the hood are still a mystery. According to the latest reports, we are about to see a new generation of the company’s familiar Theta III engine, though it is still unclear will the new crossover feature four or six cylinders. In any case, a max output will probably go between 330 and 350 horsepower and many already see the new Ford Edge ST as a direct rival.
