2020 Infiniti QX60 Review, Luxe, Pure, Interior

The new 2020 Infiniti QX60 is coming unchanged although most fans expected a huge redesign. Well, the company has the Monograph concept available for adaption on their larges SUVs. On the other hand, priority, for now, is electrification. Nissan and Infiniti will bring new electric vehicles in next few years, so the changes on the entire lineup for 2020 season are modest. So, the fans of the QX60 will see pretty much the same vehicle as in 2019 season.

Still, the mid-size three-row SUV is one of the most attractive vehicles in the luxury class. Lexus RX is the undisputed champion of the segment, but the rest of this tier is close to the second best-selling records. Sometimes it is Cadillac XT5, sometimes BMW X5. However, the main rivalry is between 2020 Infiniti QX60 and Acura MDX.

The drivetrain for the 2020 YM is the same 3.5-liter V6 unit. This might be the major downside of the QX60 – the lack of versatility. Nissan and Infiniti are not offering alternatives. Its main rivals are using hybrid and high-performance versions. But, the carmaker wants to make a huge impact with an all-electric SUV. However, this is not happening before 2022.

2020 Infiniti QX60 Engine and Specs

So, the only drivetrain for the 2020 Infiniti QX60 is still a 3.5-liter V6 petrol unit with the capability to produce 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy also remains the same at 22 mpg combined. Towing capacity for the mid-size luxury SUV is 4,500 pounds. Infiniti is behind the competition here too. Still, the QX60 has a lot of fans and buyers thanks to its reliability and durability shown during the entire first generation started in 2013.

Many experts expected to see the 2020 Infiniti QX60 with the hybrid engine. But, the latest info says Infiniti is making heavy investments in the all-electric drivetrains and that is the priority for now. All models for the next season will be unchanged. However, the company can’t take it too long and already in 2021 we could see the new generation with first pieces of info about the all-electric and hybrid versions.

Changes for 2020 YM

The 2020 Infiniti QX60 is almost unchanged. Almost. The SUV must update a few details and infotainment so bring the new model. The QX60 uses some details from the latest Monograph concept. Well, this is not the portion we would like to see. At least, it’s a good start. The company is yet to decide if the Limited model is going to be part of the lineup, and that is the SUV where we will see the most changes. Other two trims are Pure and Luxe. Exterior and interior colors are updated, but again, the difference is not spectacular.

2020 Infiniti QX60 vs Acura MDX

If you are in doubt which luxury SUV to purchase, maybe we can help you decide. Well, you can also check the rivalry in the non-premium class, where Nissan Pathfinder and Honda Pilot are fighting their battle. We could say that Honda and Acura are winning the match, for now.

The main advantage of the QX60 is the interior space. The total cargo volume is 76 cubic feet behind the first row, which is 8 cu.ft. more than the MDX can offer. On the other hand, Infiniti’s weakness turns to be the advantage of its rival. The main powertrain for the Acura MDX is a 3.5-liter V6 which lacks 15 hp and 10 lb-ft compared to the QX60. But, Honda’s luxury SUV turns this around by offering a hybrid system based on a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine with 30 hp more and improved fuel economy. Both vehicles are offering three rows by default and upper trim levels can be found with captain’s chairs in the middle row.

Trim Levels

The entry-level for the 2020 Infiniti QX60 remains the Pure model. Leatherette seats and 8-way power adjustable driver’s bucket are standard. The QX60 Pure also offers 6-speaker audio system, 8 USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity. Upper trim level is Luxe. It comes with leather seats and Bose sound system. Heated front buckets are added. The Limited model will bring most changes. However, expect heated second row and ventilation for the front seats. Apple CarPlay is standard all across the lineup, while the Nappa leather upholstery is optional upgrade.

2020 Infiniti QX60 Price

The MSRP of the 2020 Infiniti QX60 starts at $45,000. Luxe package costs $2,000 more, while the all-wheel upgrade costs another two grands. Limited trim level will increase the price over $50,000. With additional upgrades, it will reach $60k.

We believe it will be wise to wait for the next generation of the mid-size luxury SUV. Besides the visual upgrades, the QX60 will also add more drivetrains. For those with a deeper pocket, there will be an EV version with pure electric motor and the range from 250 miles.
