2020 Kia Sorento Changes, Price and Release Date

Considering the recent update, we expect to see 2020 Kia Sorento without more important changes. The popular crossover has been around for years. The original version came 16 years ago and we have seen three generations of it so far. The current model is on the market since 2015. A couple of months ago, we saw a mid-cycle refresh, which brings various kinds of changes for the 2019 model year.

There is a new styling, with updates mostly at the front, as well as some changes under the hood. The interior design doesn’t feature too many changes, but a great thing about this update is a significantly expanded list of standard equipment. With all these changes, there is no doubt that the 2020 Sorento will come largely the same. The only possible changes are in terms of new standard features and few aesthetic tweaks. Rest of the crossover will definitely continue in the same way.

2020 Kia Sorento Redesign

In terms of base design characteristics, this model won’t be changed in the next couple of years for sure. The recent update has brought a lot of visual improvements. First of all, there is a new front end, which takes a lot of inspiration from models like Forte and Cadenza. You can see a new design of headlights and grille, as well as a reshaped front bumper. The rear end also comes with a couple of notable changes, including a new taillights design. Of course, there are aesthetical updates like new color options, wheels designs etc.

Considering all these changes, the 2020 Kia Sorento will definitely come pretty much unchanged. Few more color options are the only thing you could expect from the new model. On the other side, mechanics are pretty much the same as in the initial model from 2015. The crossover rides on the same architecture, which offers lots of practicality, though fewer dynamics compared to some other models in the class.

2020 Kia Sorento Interior

This crossover is only three years old at the moment, so bigger changes on the inside weren’t expected, especially if we consider the model’s upscale interior that offers lots of quality and plenty of equipment. The biggest novelty for the recent update was the third row of seating, which is now a standard feature even in the most basic models. Also, there is a load of new, advanced safety systems. So, expect no bigger changes from the 2020 Kia Sorento. Count on the same, pretty practical cabin, which offers very spacious two rows of seating. On the other side, the third row is tight and definitely not for adults. Cargo space is probably the weakest point of this crossover. You can count on only 11 cubic feet behind the third row. Once the second and third rows fold down, you can count on acceptable 73 cubic feet.

In terms of technology even the most affordable models come with things like 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, smartphone integration,six-speaker audio system etc. In higher trims you can get a bigger 8-inch touch screen, 10-speaker audio system, navigation, wireless phone charging and much more.

2020 Kia Sorento Safety

In terms of safety, the 2020 Kia Sorento will come with lots of advanced systems. You can get things like a surround-view camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection and much more.

2020 Kia Sorento Engine

The recent update has brought an important change under the hood. A turbo inline-four is not available anymore, so a large 6-cylinder unit is the only option, while naturally-aspirated inline-four remains the base engine. So, most basic versions will come with a familiar 2.4-liter unit, which is good for about 185 horsepower. In higher trims, you can get a 3.3-liter V6, which delivers around 290 horsepower. Another strong point of this crossover is fuel economy. It delivers above-average numbers for the class. With the base four-cylinder unit, you can count on 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. On the other side, a V6 engine also provides some very respectable numbers, around 19 in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

2020 Kia Sorento Release Date and Price

The 2020 Kia Sorento will feature no bigger changes, so we shouldn’t see it earlier than usual, which in this case means in late 2019. Same goes for the price, which should remain in the same range, Base versions will be available already at 26.000 dollars. On the other side, flagship models could climb all away up to 45.000 dollars.

2020 Kia Sorento Competition

The segment of mid-size crossovers is one of the toughest on the market. So the 2020 Kia Sorento will compete with lots of great models. Some of the biggest rivals should be crossovers like Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, Ford Edge etc.
