Nissan replaced the subcompact crossover Juke in the US. However, the Japanese carmaker is still selling this model in other countries. It will continue the development together with its sibling from North America – Nissan Kicks. In China, buyers can find it as the Infiniti ESQ. The new 2020 Nissan Juke will face some serious changes before we see it ready for the next season. The revisit will result in numerous upgrades all around the vehicle. The versatile crossover offers both petrol and diesel engines, and the top-notch offer is the Nismo version.
Nissan’s subcompact segment is intriguing. The styling of both Juke and Kicks is drawing attention. Besides that, both models share some advantages over their rivals. So, the new 2020 Nissan Juke will definitely follow the steps of the upcoming Kicks. The hybrid engine was announced for the US model. So, we expect the same for Juke. On the other hand, the Nismo model offers more power and torque, as well as sportier look.
2020 Nissan Juke Specs
The 2020 Nissan Juke will use a 1.6-liter petrol engine as the main source of power. However, this drivetrain is very versatile and engineers will tune it in four different ways. The base model will return 93 hp and 104 lb-ft of torque. With such power production, the crossover will need 12 seconds to reach 60 mph. Top speed will be 105 mph (168 kmh). The good thing about the lack of power is an excellent fuel economy. The new Juke consumes less than 6 liters per 100 km average (40 mpg US, 48 mpg UK). A five-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive are only configurations available for this setup. Also, engineers tune the same drivetrain to create 20 ponies and 13 pound-feet more. However, no other options are available here as well.
Last, but not the least important engine is a diesel. It was very popular outside the US, but it never entered the major market in the world. A 1.5 dCi engine is capable to produce 110 hp and 180 lb-ft of twisting power. The turbocharged engine is not as quick as its petrol siblings. This version of Juke will need 11 seconds to sprint to 60 mph. On the other hand, it drops fuel consumption under 5 l/100 km (45 mpg US). A six-speed manual transmission sends power to front wheels only.
2020 Nissan Juke Nismo
The top model in the lineup will be the 2020 Nissan Juke Nismo. This version is not upgrading only the performance, but also the visual appearance. But, let’s start from the mechanical parts. Again, there is a 1.6-liter turbo-four engine. Xtronic CVT auto gearbox is optional for the turbocharged DIG-T model. Also, and AWD setup becomes a possible upgrade. The same 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine creates 190 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque thanks to the turbocharger. This time, the 2020 Juke will need 8 seconds for acceleration 0-60 mph and the crossover achieves 215 km/h (135 mph). Fuel consumption jumps to 7 l/100km (40 mpg UK, 33 mpg US). For the Nismo RS crossover, a 1.6 engine can deliver 200 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque.
Besides that, this model brings a more aggressive appearance. Unique graphics and red details will boost the overall impression. However, Juke Nismo is not available in all markets where subcompact vehicle is appearing. Larger wheels are definitely drawing attention. Interior is sportier, with racing inspiration for details. Advanced safety and infotainment systems are part of the upgrade. But, we will know more details when the Nismo and Nismo RS models come out.
2020 Nissan Juke Changes
First spy photos of the new 2020 Nissan Juke are already available. From what we see, the crossover is not gaining extra size. On the other hand, the company announced big changes in the cockpit, especially technological elements will suffer big upgrades. In nearly ten years the company produced one million copies of this crossover. Now, it is time to expand the offer and increase sales. The new look will help, but no radical cuts are expected. We believe that Juke will keep its sharpness, but the redesign will just change details. Spy photos are indicating the upcoming model is the same length as before.
The interior is also under the reconstruction. Leaking images are showing a “floating” touchscreen display. Experts criticized Nissan because of its low position in the previous model. Now, it improves safety as well. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. The Japanese company is also improving voice commands and other hands-free features. Without changes on the body’s length, we can’t count on any extra space inside, neither for passengers, nor cargo.
2020 Nissan Juke Release Date
With spy shots already available, we are sure that 2020 Nissan Juke will come pretty soon. The redesign will draw a lot of attention and we believe the company will launch the car somewhere in Europe. We can’t predict the price since the changes in the model are significant. Nissan will charge every upgrade on the new Juke.
