2021 Audi Q5 Facelift, Sportback, Release Date

The popular luxury crossover stands out for several reasons. It offers great ride quality, exceptional cabin design, peppy engines and a long list of standard and available equipment. However, years are passing and it’s time for some refresh. That’s why the 2021 Audi Q5 will come with a nice number of interesting changes. At this point, we know for sure that the next year will bring styling changes, while a couple of tweaks to the interior design are expected as well. Still, the biggest novelty should be a completely new body style in the offer, as the compact crossover is about to come in the famous Sportback layout as well.

On the other side, the base design characteristics will remain the same. The current generation is about to carry on for a couple of more years. We expect that the updated version will hit the market by the end of this summer, though the exact date is yet to be announced.

As we’ve just mentioned, the base layout is about to remain the same. On the other side, the upcoming facelift is about to bring a variety of interesting changes. First of all, we are about to see a new style. At this point, we know that the 2021 Audi Q5 will feature a new front end, with a bigger grille, new headlights etc. A couple of tweaks to the rear end will come as well. We also count on things like new wheels, color options etc.

Still, the biggest novelty will be the introduction of a new body style. We are about to see the Sportback version of the popular crossover. As you may presume, this version will feature notable differences compared to the standard model. This particularly refers to the rear end, where we count on the sloping roof layout and a couple of other changes.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, we can’t talk about details at the moment. However, the German carmaker definitely prepares a couple of interesting updates. Some reports suggest that we are about to see a new, 10.1-inch touchscreen, while the digital instrument cluster should become standard across the whole range of models. Furthermore, we may see a couple of revisions on the center console, as well as things like new materials, color schemes etc.

In any case, the 2021 Audi Q5 will continue to offer one of the best-looking cabins in the class. It looks opulent and features amazing materials. Also, you may count on a quite decent amount of space in both rows, on plenty of leg and headroom. When it comes to the cargo room, this crossover is decent, though definitely not the most spacious model in the class. You may count on about 25 cubic feet behind the second row and 53 cubic feet of total cargo volume.

Features

As we already mentioned, the new model will come with a couple of interesting novelties in terms of standard equipment as well. We already said that the new 10.1-inch touchscreen is expected. Also, there will probably be a couple more new goodies on the list of standard equipment. Still, we have to say that the current model is already equipped with things like tri-zone climate control, 10-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, HD Radio, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The current list of options includes things like Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, wireless device charging, a 19-speaker premium audio system and satellite radio.

We also count on some additions in terms of standard safety features, considering that the current model isn’t pretty generous in this aspect. Most of the advanced safety systems, such as cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, a head-up display, a surround-view parking camera system, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, traffic jam assist, and adaptive cruise control are currently options and we are pretty sure that some of them will become standard in the next year.

2021 Audi Q5 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, things will certainly remain the same. Therefore, base models will come equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. Those who are looking for something peppier can pick a new hybrid model. It packs full 350 horsepower and delivers pretty impressive acceleration and overall performances, perfectly combined with decent fuel economy. Both options come with the company’s excellent 8-speed automatic transmission.

For the next year, the company also prepares new, diesel hybrid versions but as you may presume, this engine option won’t be available in North America.
