Although this is still a quite fresh model on the market, which has been around for just a couple of years, that doesn’t mean that we won’t see big novelties for the next year. Moreover, the Bavarian carmaker is bringing a new, hi-performance version of the flagship SUV for the next year, which will come under the famous Alpina badge. Of course, it will get the most powerful version of BMW’s V8 engine, as well as numerous mechanical and visual upgrades.
On the other side, the rest of the lineup is about to carry on in the same way. We are about to see a familiar layout, which brings a fantastic combination of performance and luxury. The 2021 BMW X7 will continue to offer excellent driving experience and an impressive level of luxury. For the next year, we might see a couple of novelties in terms of standard equipment, but most of the things are about to remain the same.
2021 BMW XB7 Alpina
When it comes to the 2021 BMW X7 novelties, there is no doubt that the biggest news is the addition of the XB7 Alpina version. The hi-performance version will come with loads of exclusive features. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the engine. For this occasion, we are about to see a pretty powerful version of the familiar 4.4-liter V8 engine, with a max output of 612 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. With such an amount of power, we presume that this large SUV will be able to hit sixty in about four seconds.
Other than the engine, we will see loads of mechanical upgrades, starting from a new suspension, brakes, chassis reinforcement and more. Visual upgrades are expected as well and they will accentuate the model’s hi-performance character. Upgrades are expected on the inside as well.

Exterior and Interior
While the new Alpina version is about to bring loads of novelties, standard models are about to carry on in the same way. This means you may count on a familiar design, which is based on the company’s latest CLAR platform. This architecture is modular, so it borrows many design solutions from the smaller and more popular X5 model. The same is with the styling, though the X7 features an even larger, pretty controversial version of the famous kidney grille design. For the next year, the best we can see are new color options. Other than that, things will remain the same.
The same thing goes for interior design. You may count on the same cabin layout, which means a familiar dashboard design. The dash features an elegant, simplistic layout, but the overall quality is really impressive. The list of tech goodies is also really impressive. When it comes to seating, the first two rows are very generous in terms of space. The third one is a little bit tighter but still comfortable enough to accommodate adults. When it comes to cargo volume, you may count on typical ratings for the class. In numbers, that would be around 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 48.6 cubic feet with the third row folded, and a vast 90.4 cubic feet of total volume.
2021 BMW X7 Engines
While the new XB7 is about to come with a new engine, the rest of the lineup will carry on in the same way. This means you may count on three powertrain options in the offer. Base models will continue with a 3.0-liter turbo inline-six engine, which puts out around 335 horsepower. A well-known V8 comes in two output variants, with 456 and 523 horsepower. All models are coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to standard equipment, the current model comes with goodies like a 12.3-inch iDrive infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, navigation, HD Radio, satellite radio, 10 speakers, Bluetooth, and three USB ports, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, quad-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic moonroof, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a wireless smartphone charging pad etc. We could see a couple of additions for the next year and you may presume that the list of potential “candidates” is currently on the list of options. Some of the highlights are goodies like five-zone automatic climate control, heated and cooled cupholders, rear-seat entertainment screens, upgrades audio systems etc.
2021 BMW X7 Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2021 BMW X7 this fall. When it comes to the price, we presume that base models will go around 74.000 dollars. When it comes to the new XB7 Alpina version, the price will go around 143.000 dollars. When it comes to the competition, things won’t change too much. As we are still waiting for a full-size SUV from Audi, the Mercedes-Benz GLS remains the only arch rival. The rest of the class includes mostly BoF models, such as Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Toyota Land Cruiser etc.
