Despite that the testing model has been around for a while, the 2021 Buick Enclave won’t feature too many changes. According to the latest reports, the facelift has been re-scheduled for the 2022 model year, which clearly indicates that the company didn’t work too much on the upcoming model year. Practically, things are pretty much the same as in the current 2020 model and even in terms of standard features, we won’t see anything particular.
All this means that you may count on a familiar layout, which has been around for just a couple of years. The current generation was introduced in 2018 and it has a lot of good things to offer, starting from a spacious and well-designed cabin, comfortable ride and powerful engine. Furthermore, the list of standard equipment is more than decent, while the sound insulation is pretty good. We expect to see these familiar characteristics once again in the 2021 Buick Enclave, which is about to arrive later in the year.
2021 Buick Enclave Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, the current generation is expected to remain unchanged in the following years. Simply, the current model has been around for just a couple of years and it feels pretty modern in most aspects. Mechanically, this model is based on a familiar C1 platform, the same one that underprints models like GMC Acadia, Chevy Traverse etc. The latter has most things in common with Enclave, including the wheelbase, which is almost 121 inches long.
Visually, the 2021 Buick Enclave won’t receive any particular change, though there is always room for things like new color options. Still, the overall look will remain identical and it will follow the brand’s contemporary design language, which is characterized by a lot of smooth lines.
The same thing goes for the interior. We are about to see the same layout, which brings a lot of good things. This crossover stands somewhere between the premium and mainstream segment and that is particularly noticeable on the inside. The overall quality is pretty good. You can find fine materials all around, though there are still some areas with low-rent materials. On the other side, we really don’t have any complaints when it comes to sound insulation and the list of standard and available equipment.
Still, the best thing about this cabin is the amount of passenger space. With nearly 121 inches in wheelbase, it’s obvious that all three rows are generous in space and that all of them can accommodate adults with ease. The cargo area also features pretty impressive numbers. You may count on about 23.6 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 58 cubic feet behind the second and 97.6 cubic feet of the overall cargo volume.
As we’ve already mentioned, we don’t expect bigger changes in this aspect either. Most of the things will certainly remain the same, which means you may count on a quite generous list of standard equipment. When it comes to tech goodies, some of the highlights are things like an 8-inch touch screen, smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, Bluetooth, six USB ports etc. Additionally, you can get goodies like navigation, wireless device charging, a premium 10-speaker Bose sound system, an 8-inch driver display, and a dual-pane moonroof.
When it comes to safety, the list of standard equipment should include a rearview camera only. On the other side, the list of options is pretty long and includes things like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane change alert, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, front parking sensors, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, low-speed forward automatic emergency braking, high-speed emergency braking, a rear camera mirror, a surround-view parking camera system, the following distance indicator, adaptive cruise control and many more.
2021 Buick Enclave Engine
Things under the hood certainly won’t change and you may count on GM’s well-known 3.6-liter V6 engine. This unit delivers a solid amount of power, which counts up to 310 horsepower. That’s more than enough for solid driving dynamics and a convenient ride. It works pretty well in a combination with a 9-speed automatic transmission and the ride is pretty smooth.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on typical ratings for the class. This large crossover returns around 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
2021 Buick Enclave Release Date and Price
Since there are no bigger changes to come, we expect that the 2021 Buick Enclave will hit the market sometime late in the year. Base models should go around 40.000 dollars.
