2021 Cadillac Escalade Interior, Pictures, Engine, Specs

There is no doubt that the 2021 Cadillac Escalade is one of the most anticipated models for the next year. According to the latest reports, we are about to see it in showrooms already in the first half of the next year. The rendering photos have been shown already and it’s obvious that the new model is coming with tons of novelties. Besides the new styling, we are about to see significant improvement in terms of driving characteristics, both in terms of comfort and performances.

Also, new powertrain options are coming. Among them, there will be a place for the all-electric version too. However, this model won’t come so soon and we will probably have to wait for a couple of more years to see it. Until then, the Escalade will be available with two gasoline engines, including the new V8 twin-turbo option. Details about the price are still to be announced.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Redesign

This redesign will bring a lot of improvements, as we already mentioned. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Like the rest of GM’s new SUV lineup, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade will also switch to a new T1 architecture. Benefits from the new platform will be numerous. First of all, we expect a significant weight reduction, probably around 300 pounds. That will definitely have a great impact on fuel economy, as well as on performances.

Also, the new architecture will provide a better driving experience. Among many mechanical novelties, we also count on an independent rear suspension. The biggest rival, Lincoln Navigator, already comes standard with this feature, so we expect the same from the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. This feature will provide significantly better comfort, especially for rear passengers.

Exterior

Big changes are expected in terms of styling as well. Of course, the front end comes first to mind. We are about to see a new one, based on the brand’s latest design language, but full of distinctive details as well. The rendering photos have been around for a couple of weeks and we can see that the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade features a completely new face.

The first thing you’ll notice are new, narrow headlights, inspired by the Escala concept. Also, you can notice a vertical lighting group just under, which is reserved for daytime running lights, for lights etc. Of course, the grille has bee replaced as well. It features a familiar shield shape that perfectly matches the brand’s famous badge. Also, there are no horizontal bars anymore, but rather some kind of mesh pattern.

On the other side, you can notice new L-shaped taillights, designed in a similar manner as the ones that characterize small XT4 crossover. On the other side, the overall shape is quite similar to the outgoing model. It is boxy, particularly at the back, which promises a lot of space and functionality in the new model.

Interior

Naturally, the upcoming redesign will bring a completely new cabin as well. The outgoing model has a couple of notable drawbacks, so we have big expectations from the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. First of all, we expect that the new model will feature a more spacious third row, as well as the more generous cargo area. Of course, the new layout is about to come as well. At this point, we can only rely on a couple of spy shots. These photos show a completely new dashboard design, which is highlighted by a large infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster.

Speaking of the infotainment system, we hope it will be far more intuitive and functional than the current one. Of course, we count on a new infotainment controller from the 2020 XT5 and XT6 to sit on the center console. In the same area, we should also find a new shift-by-wire shift lever instead of an old-school column-mounted unit.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, base models will probably carry on with a familiar 6.2-liter V8, which is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and besides plenty of power, it features a pretty good fuel economy, particularly on the highway.

Of course, we expect novelties in the 2021 Cadillac Escalade as well, Most reports are suggesting a new 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8, which delivers either 500 or 550 horsepower. Moreover, some reports are also suggesting a Supercharged version of the familiar 6.2-liter V8. It is the same version that powers Camaro ZL1, which delivers around 650 horsepower and should be reserved for the potential hi-performance version of the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade.

Finally, we expect to see an all-electric version in the near future. Details are still unavailable, but it looks like GM engineers are aiming for a 400-mile range.
