2021 Cadillac XT5 Changes, Specs and Features

The popular luxury crossover recently received a mid-cycle update. We saw a couple of interesting novelties. Besides small visual updates, the model also came with a new engine, as well as with changes in terms of trim level organization. Given all these changes, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Cadillac XT5 will come without bigger changes. We are about to see the same design, with the same characteristics, while the only possible novelties could be a couple of additions in terms of standard equipment.

This means you may count on familiar driving characteristics. The XT5 is a comfort-oriented model, which offers a smooth ride and comes with excellent seat quality. Also, it is one of the most spacious models in the class. On the other side, you probably won’t like some odd design solutions on the dashboard, but the overall impression is that this crossover offers plenty of value for the money.

2021 Cadillac XT5 Redesign

The recent update has brought some interesting styling changes, so the new model now looks better than before. Therefore, we may expect no styling changes for the 2021 Cadillac XT5. On the other side, the mechanics are pretty much unchanged compared to the initial model that cam a couple of years ago. We are talking about a familiar C1XX architecture, the same one that is used for models like Blazer and Acadia. Therefore, you may count on similar driving characteristics, though the ride is actually notably smoother. This is an excellent choice for those who seek for composed handling. On the other side, those who prefer a little bit more athleticism should probably check some other models.

Interior

The interior didn’t come with too many novelties with the recent update. Still, the overall interior layout has remained the same. The biggest novelty is actually an updated infotainment system, while there are also some new color schemes in the offer. Other than that, things are pretty much the same and we presume that the 2021 Cadillac XT5 will carry on in the same way.

This means you may count on a well-built cabin, which features some pretty nice materials. The styling is very elegant, while base models come with all kinds of power features. Leather upholstery is available.

Still, the strongest point is the interior space. Given 112.5 inches in wheelbase and just two rows of seats, it’s no wonder there is plenty of legroom in both rows. Also, we like the seats, which are massive and supportive, perfect for long rides.

The cargo area is also pretty decent. There are 30 cubic feet behind the rear seats/ A good thing to know is that rear seats can slide forward, which increases volume for a bit. Of course, these seats fold down as well and the overall cargo capacity goes up to 63 cubic feet. Those are pretty average numbers for the class.

Trim Levels

The base trim level organization will remain the same, which means you can choose between Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. Of course, each version could come with a couple of novelties, but most things will generally remain the same.

The base Luxury trim comes standard with things like an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Bose stereo system, power-adjustable front seats, simulated-leather upholstery etc. The Premium Luxury adds things like leather upholstery, a hands-free liftgate, and automatic wipers, but also offers a lot of standalone options. Also, this trim is available with the V6 engine as well.

Finally, there is the Sport trim, which comes with mechanical upgrades, particularly in terms of suspension, which includes adaptive bumpers. The V6 engine is standard, which comes with special engine cooling and standard all-wheel drive. Also, there are some nice interior details.

2021 Cadillac XT5 Engines

The 2021 Cadillac XT5 will carry on with two familiar engine options in the offer. There is a new version of a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which now delivers around 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Also, there is a familiar 3.6-liter V6 unit, which is good for about 310 horsepower. Both engines come in pairs with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while the AWD layout is optional features.

Both engines offer good driving dynamics, though the V6 is an obvious choice for those who prefer something peppier. When it comes to fuel economy, we are still waiting for the numbers for the new turbo-four. On the other side, the V6 returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which are pretty much typical ratings for the class.
