2021 Cadillac XT6 Gets New Engine and More

The XT6 came as a brand-new model last year, as a part of the company’s new naming policy. The mid-size 7-seater has been around for less than a year but there are already some changes to come for the 2021 Cadillac XT6. You may count on a new entry-level version, as well as on a smaller and more efficient engine. Because of that, the starting price is now significantly lower compared to the current model year.

Still, these additions won’t change the overall picture. The 2021 Cadillac XT6 carries on with a familiar design, which is mostly about a comfortable ride. This crossover isn’t as fun to drive as most rivals but it offers a really smooth ride, along with three spacious rows of seats and a long list of standard features. Now, you can choose between two powertrain options and both of them will be available with AWD layout too. The new model year will hit the market in the next couple of weeks.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Changes

A fistful of novelties. That would be the words to describe the upcoming 2021 Cadillac XT6, which brings a nice amount of notable updates. The most important thing is probably a new engine option. Besides the familiar V6 unit, the mid-size crossover will also come with a new version of GM’s turbo-four, which offers a little bit less power than before but promises better mpg ratings.

Other than the engine, the next year brings a new entry-level trim, simply called Luxury. It will be slotted below Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. Of course, it will come with less standard equipment compared to the Premium Luxury trim, but it will still feature a pretty long list of goodies. Among other goodies, the list of standard equipment will also include things like an 8.0-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a power tailgate, and three-zone climate control.

Another novelty we should mention is that all models will now come standard with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Redesign

Despite all the novelties that are about to come for the next year, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 will remain essentially the same vehicle. This is still a pretty fresh vehicle, so there is no reason for more significant changes. It rides on a well-known C1 platform and shares many parts with models like GMC Acadia. This includes the wheelbase as well, which goes around 112.7 inches. Those are typical mid-size dimensions, which ensure lots of space for the passengers.

Cadillac XT6

Visually, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 won’t feature any particular change, although the range-topping Sport model will come with new 21-inch wheels. Other than that, things will remain the same. This is a fresh model, so it’s no wonder it follows the brand’s latest design language completely. This particularly refers to the front end, which takes a lot of inspiration from the Escala concept and comes with loads of shaper lines, large shield grille and other recognizable design solutions.

Interior

The same thing goes for interior design. Although some rivals like Acura MDX or Audi Q7 feel more upscale on the inside, the overall cabin layout is pretty attractive. The dashboard feels modern, while materials are really fine. Furthermore, the long list of standard and available tech goodies makes everything look even more opulent.

When it comes to comfort, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 will carry on with three rows of seats as standard. This is one of the rare mid-size crossovers that offer plenty of room in all three rows, and even the last row of seats can accommodate adults with ease. For that reason, the cargo area has been compromised and offers just around 12.6 cubic feet behind the third row. However, the overall cargo volume goes up to quite respectable 78.7 cubic feet.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Engines

One of the biggest novelties for this year is the addition of a new 2.0-liter turbo-four engine. This is a new version of the engine, which puts out around 237 horsepower. That’s less compared to the previous variant of this engine but the company claims higher mpg ratings in this case. We are still waiting for the numbers.

On the other side, the familiar 3.6-liter V6 will carry on in the same way. It is a pretty potent unit, which delivers 310 horsepower, which ensures pretty respectable driving dynamics. At the same time, you may count on pretty good mpg ratings. With this engine, the XT6 returns around 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. These are pretty solid ratings for the class.

Both engines will come in pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to either front or all wheels.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Release Date and Price

We expect to see 2021 Cadillac XT6 this fall, with the lower starting price than before. Base models will now go around 49.000 dollars.
