2021 Chevy Equinox Interior, Release date, Price

The 2021 Chevy Equinox is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh. Those are the latest reports about the compact crossover that has been around since 2017. Although the current generation is still pretty fresh, we are about to see some pretty big updates. Simply, the current model can’t keep pace with most competitors, so this could be changes to boost sales numbers. At this point, the testing models ride on the street and wears a lot of camouflage, which indicates big styling changes.

Also, we expect to see novelties on the inside, considering that the current model doesn’t feature particularly attractive interior. On the other side, we probably won’t see changes under the hood. The 2021 Chevy Equinox should carry on with three familiar powertrain options, including one oil burner. The new model should arrive a little bit earlier than usual, probably next summer or something like that.

2021 Chevy Equinox Exterior

Probably the biggest changes that are about to come are those in terms of the exterior design. If we can judge on the camouflage, there will be a lot of modifications. At this point, we don’t know details, but we may presume that the new model is about to adopt the brand’s latest design language. This means a completely new front face, with new headlights, grille and bumper, all designed in the same manner as the all-new Blazer, which recently came to the market. Changes are expected on the rear end as well.

On the other side, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle is about to remain pretty much the same. The 2021 Chevy Equinox will continue to ride on a good-old D2 platform, which offers a decent balance between ride quality and efficiency. Eventually, we could see some tweaks to the suspension setup, though the company is still quiet on this matter.

Interior

Big changes are expected on the inside as well. The current model features subpar interior quality by today’s industry standards. First of all, there are many areas that feature low-rent materials. Also, the dashboard features some pretty odd styling solutions and definitely isn’t among prettiest in the class. Therefore, we count on a lot of improvement, though we don’t expect miracles, considering that we are talking about a mid-cycle update.

On the other side, the overall layout will remain untouched, naturally. In terms of size and dimensions we won’t see changes, so the 2021 Chevy Equinox will carry on with the same two rows of seats, which offer a decent amount of legroom and enough comfort for five adult persons. Also, there is around 30 cubic feet of interior space, which are decent ratings, though many rivals offer much more cargo space.

Features

This is one of the aspects where the current model is actually pretty good. This particularly refers to tech features, where even the most basic trims are well-equipped. Base models come standard with things like a 7-inch touch screen, Wi-Fi hotspot, a six-speaker audio system, two USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay etc. Naturally, higher trims offer even more. You can get a bigger 8-inch touchscreen, additional USB ports, navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, a seven-speaker Bose audio system and more. Therefore, we don’t expect to see some significant novelties with this update, just a couple of additions to each trim level.

The same thing goes for safety. The 2020 model year came with notable updates in this aspect, so all versions now come standard with things like rearview camera, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection. Therefore, we don’t expect anything significant to happen in this aspect either.

2021 Chevy Equinox Engines

Changes under the hood aren’t expected. The 2021 Chevy Equinox should carry on with two familiar engines in the offer. Base models will feature a 1.5-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 170 horsepower, which seems like a decent power for a daily ride. Still, an upgrade to a 2.0-liter turbo-four is definitely worth it. This engine is good for about 250 horsepower and features pretty amazing driving dynamics. Both engines also feature a pretty decent fuel economy. Still, those who want a fuel-efficient options won’t be delighted to head that a turbodiesel option has been discontinued recently, A familiar 1.6-liter unit is not available anymore.

Considering that we are about to see a pretty big update, the 2021 Chevy Equinox should hit the market a little bit earlier than usual. Most likely, what will happen next summer, somewhere within the third quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes. The current model starts at around 24.000 dollars. On the other side, fully-loaded versions could cost you more than 35.000 dollars.
