2021 GMC Envoy Review, Price, Denali, XL

We are witnessing all kinds of comebacks these days and one that could also happen is the 2021 GMC Envoy. If you are old enough to remember the original Envoy, you know it was an SUV that was produced in the late 90s and during the first decade of the 21st century. These days, we are hearing rumors about its comeback and what’s the most interesting thing is that GM has trademarked this nameplate. Something is going on.

At this point, it’s hard to predict the exact layout of the new Envoy. Still, the rumors say it could be notably different compared to the original, particularly in terms of the platform and chassis. It should be more family-friendly, with a focus on practicality, instead of off-road performance and utility. Some sources suggest it could arrive already by the end of this year, but the officials are still quiet.

2021 GMC Envoy Redesign

At this point, we can only speculate about the design of this SUV. The 2021 GMC Envoy is still just a rumor but from what we can hear, it could be notably different compared to the original. As you probably know, the original model was characterized by a genuine body-on-frame platform, where most of the parts were shared with Chevy TrailBlazer. This time, things will probably be different.

It looks like the 2021 GMC Envoy will become a crossover. We are about to see a unibody layout, based on the company’s familiar C1 platform. Allegedly, this would be the largest crossover in GMC’s lineup, bigger than the Acadia.

Exterior Design

As we’ve just mentioned, this should be the bigger crossover in the lineup and if that’s about to happen. Some things are pretty easy to predict. Considering that it would be bigger than the Acadia, we would expect to see it riding on a stretched version of the C1 platform. This would mean the same mechanics as Chevy Traverse, as well as the same wheelbase, which is nearly 121 inches long.

When it comes to the styling, we presume that GMC designers would experiment too much and that the 2021 GMC Envoy would follow the brand’s latest design language. That means a bold styling, heavily inspired by pickup trucks like Sierra and Canyon. Of course, we presume that there would be a lot of unique details, but the overall layout would look pretty familiar.

Interior

The 2021 GMC Envoy would be a large family hauler. With nearly 121 inches in wheelbase, we have no doubt that the cabin would be really spacious. If we look at Chevy Traverse, we can see a couple of really spacious and comfortable seats, while the third row is also adult-friendly, which is a rare thing among crossover. We presume that the new Envoy would offer a similar amount of space. This also refers to the cargo area, which would probably offer around 100 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Naturally, we would expect to see a nice dashboard design. GMC crossovers look good from the inside but still use a lot of cheap materials. We presume that would have to change in the 2021 GMC Envoy, as this is expected to be a model that competes with Hyundai Palisade and similar crossovers with really upscale cabins. So, we presume there would be a lot of quality materials, attractive design solutions, and a long list of tech features, which would make everything look even more upscale.

2021 GMC Envoy Engines

When it comes to powertrain, we don’t expect a surprise. The core of the new 2021 GMC Envoy would be a well-known 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 310 horsepower. It comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission and presume that both FWD and AWD models would be on the offer. This engine has plenty of power to move
a vehicle like this with ease, so we don’t have any doubt that driving dynamics would be pretty good.

GMC might offer a more efficient version as well. We presume that model would feature a 2.0-liter turbo-four, with around 230 horsepower. This engine also uses a 9-speed automatic transmission.

2021 GMC Envoy Release Date and Price

The 2021 GMC Envoy is still just a rumor, and the rumors say it could arrive already by the end of the year. On the other side, the officials are still quiet. If it arrives one, day, we presume that the base price would go around 35.000 dollars.
