2021 GMC Yukon Redesign, Interior, Release Date, XL

The next will be quite interesting for lovers of traditional body-on-frame SUVs. A couple of all-new models are about to come. Among them, there is the 2021 GMC Yukon. The popular model has been around for years and just like its corporal twin, Chevy Tahoe/Suburban, it is about to receive a complete overhaul in the next year.

The new generation of this SUV will come with lots of improvements. Typically for redesigns, we are about to see a completely new styling. Of course, that won’t be the only big novelty, as the 2021 GMC Yukon will also switch to a new platform, which will provide many improvements, including weight reduction, improved driving characteristics and more. Of course, we count on new aesthetics as well, both outside and inside. Finally, there are some pretty interesting novelties under the hood to come, as the latest reports are suggesting two new engines in the offer.

2021 GMC Yukon Redesign

2021 GMC Yukon Redesign

GMC prepares a load of changes for this occasion. Simply, the competition is getting tougher and tougher these days, while the biggest rival, Ford Expedition, set some new standards with the recent redesign. The first thing we should mention is the platform. The 2021 GMC Yukon will switch to the company’s new T1 platform, which brings improvements in various aspects, particularly in terms of driveability. Also, we count on a major weight reduction, considering that the new design should save around 300 pounds. This also indicates improvements in terms of efficiency, so better fuel economy should be another benefit of this redesign.

Among the expected novelties, there is also a new suspension setup. According to the latest reports, we will see an independent rear suspension, standard across the whole range. This will definitely improve comfort and overall driving experience.

Styling

Naturally, this redesign is about to bring new styling as well. However, we can’t say too much about the new model, considering that the test mule still wears a camouflage. However, we may presume that the GMC’s new design language will find its place on the new SUV. At the front, we expect to see all those details that characterize the new Sierra, which has been introduced last year. When it comes to the rear end of the vehicle, some reports are suggesting a familiar C-shaped taillights design, which is something that characterizes newest crossovers from this brand.

Besides the standard version, we also count on a long-wheelbase model, which is known as the Yukon XL. Despite bigger dimensions, it should feature pretty much the same shape, though with a couple of distinctive details as well. Speaking of distinctive details, the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali is also about to come. The famous flagship trim level has always been characterized by unique styling details, so the new model shouldn’t be an exception. Once again, we are about to see distinctive grille and wheels, as well as lots of chrome details around the vehicle.

Interior

Interior design hasn’t been the strongest point of GM models in the last several years. After all that criticism, we presume that GMC designers will put special attention to the new model and that the cabin will look much better compared to the new Sierra. Of course, we count on a completely new dashboard, but on loads of new tech features as well. Besides new aesthetics, we also expect a little bit more space. This refers to the standard version, which is currently a little bit tight in the third row. That issue definitely doesn’t bother the stretched XL model, which already offers an impressive amount of legroom, as well as a class-leading cargo volume.

2021 GMC Yukon Engine

As we already mentioned, the 2021 GMC Yukon is about to come with big novelties under the hood. There are two new engines to come with this redesign. Most likely, base models will now feature a new 2.7-liter turbo-four engine, which is good for about 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. Also, there is a big chance to see a diesel version, with the same 3.0-liter inline-six that powers the new Sierra.

Besides two new engines, we also count on two familiar V8s. The first one is a 5.3-liter unit with around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Also, there is a large 6.2-liter unit with around 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Besides new engines, we also count on a new 10-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to the price, we expect that base models will go around 50.000 dollars.
