It’s no secret that Infinit’s sales numbers aren’t particularly great these days. Not only that Nissan’s luxury division is struggling to keep pace with rivals, but sales are going down in quite rapidly. Therefore, the company desperately needs something new and that will come in the form of 2021 Infiniti QX55. This will be a brand-new, coupe crossover, which will compete with models like BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe etc.
At this point, we don’t know the exact details about this new crossover, but the new model will have its premiere in a couple of days. 2021 Infiniti QX55 Redesign
Even though the company still didn’t come up with details, we are pretty sure about some of the key design characteristics. One of the first things that come to mind is the platform and overall layout. Of course, this model will be closely related to the QX50. The two models will share complete mechanics, including the engine, reports say. We count on the same wheelbase and quite similar overall dimensions.
Of course, the most obvious differences will be in terms of styling. While the front end is expected to look nearly identical, the rear part will come in a completely different layout. Of course, it’s about the sloping roof that provides that coupe-like layout. We have no doubt that a lot of inspiration will be taken from the second-generation FX, which featured that coupe-like layout when coupe SUVs weren’t popular at all.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, we have no doubt that the dashboard design will be the same as on the QX50 model. This means you may count on a design that utilizes high-quality materials, combined with sleek aesthetics. Of course, we also expect to see that dual-touchscreen setup, which isn’t the most practical but definitely looks nice.
Obviously, the biggest difference will be in the back end of the cabin. The sloping roof will definitely reduce the amount of headroom. On the other side, the amount of legroom should remain pretty much the same. Of course, the cargo area will be smaller too. For reference, the QX50 is good for about 65 cubic feet of the overall volume.
2021 Infiniti QX55 Engines
We don’t expect surprises under the hood of 2021 Infiniti QX55. Just like the QX50, it will come with a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with variable compression. It features a max output of 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque and comes in pair with a CVT gearbox. Front-wheel drive will be standard, while AWD models are expected as well.
When it comes to fuel economy, we count on pretty much the same ratings as in the more conventional sibling. This means you may count on something like 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. These are above-average numbers for the class.
2021 Infiniti QX55 Release Date and Price
