2021 Lexus RX 350

The RX is one of the most popular mid-size luxury crossovers and also one of the biggest moneymakers for the Japanese brand. That’s why we pay a lot of attention to every year model, including the 2021 Lexus RX 350. However, it looks like the next year won’t bring too many changes. We saw a mid-cycle update last year and the current generation should remain in production for a couple of more years.

Things with this crossover are pretty simple. The reason for such popularity lays in the fact that this model offers an impressive value for the money. It is comfortable and well-designed, while the cabin offers amazing overall quality, both in terms of materials and sound insulation. This is a perfect crossover for longer trips. On the other side, many rivals offer better handling and more cargo space, but it looks like that’s not a deciding factor for most buyers of mid-size crossovers.

As we’ve just mentioned, the next year won’t bring any particular change. We are about to see a familiar design, which has been introduced five years ago. Of course, we saw a mid-cycle update last year, which has brought a couple of interesting updates in order to keep this model fresh for a couple of more years. The styling has been updated and now includes a revised spindle grille, with a refreshed pattern.

However, the overall layout has remained the same, though we have to say that the updated version now comes in two variants. Besides the standard model, there is a stretched version, which comes with three rows of seats. Both models feature the same look and the only notable difference is in the longer rear overhang, which makes room for the third row. For the next year, the best we could see are things like color options etc.

Interior

The interior has also been refreshed but the overall layout hasn’t changed that much. That’s not a bad thing at all, as we are talking about one of the finest cabins in the class. This crossover delivers everything you would expect from a Lexus. First of all, the whole cabin features first-grade materials. Second, everything is designed in a classic manner, so we have no doubt that the dashboard and other parts will look fresh for a long time. Another thing we really like about this cabin are seats, which are exceptionally comfortable. We would say that these are arguably some of the best seats in the class.

The amount of space is pretty good, though you won’t get much use from the three-row version. In our opinions, there are much better 3-row crossover. On the other side, the 2-row model is an excellent choice, even though it doesn’t feature the most spacious cargo area in the class. You may count on about 18.4 cubic feet of space behind the second row of seats and 56.3 cubic feet behind the first.

Features

Novelties in terms of standard equipment are always expected, but we don’t expect to see too many of them in the next year, considering that the current model already comes with a pretty long of standard equipment. All models come standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, a nine-speaker sound system, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and six USB ports. In addition, you can get things like a 12.3-inch dual-screen display, a 12-speaker stereo, a 15-speaker Mark Levinson stereo, navigation etc.

When it comes to safety features, the list of standard features includes things like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high-beam headlights, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. In higher trim levels, you can also get goodies like blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, and adaptive headlights are available.

When it comes to the powertrain, we definitely don’t expect to see changes. The 2021 Lexus RX 350 will carry on with a well-known 3.5-liter V6, which puts out around 295 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. Driving dynamics are more than decent, while the 8-speed automatic gearbox works very good.

Also, you may count on a pretty good fuel economy. This model returns around 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Those are above-average ratings for the class.

The 2021 Lexus RX350 will arrive this fall and we don’t expect any bigger changes in terms of the price. The current model starts around 45.000 dollars. When it comes to the competition, some of the key rivals are models like Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Audi Q7, Acura MDX etc.
