The last year’s redesign has brought a lot of interesting novelties. The new generation looks way more mature than its predecessor and makes this nameplate a more competitive model in the small niche that goes between mainstream and premium segments. That’s why the 2022 Buick Envision features no bigger changes. The only notable updates are those regarding new features in specific packages and trim levels. Other than that, things are pretty much the same as in the current model year.
All in all, you may count on familiar design characteristics. This SUV has a lot of nice things to offer, starting from an attractive styling, spacious cabin, lots of standard and available features, and attractive price. On the other hand, we don’t like its handling, while the engine would use more power. Also, the interior should look more upscale.
As there are no significant changes for the second production year, the 2022 Buick Envision continues with the same price tag.
2022 Buick Envision Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, this compact crossover was completely redesigned last year. The new model brings improvements in various aspects, starting from weight savings, more comfortable ride and other chassis tunings. The new model rides on GM’s familiar E2 platform and most of the mechanics are shared with the Cadillac XT4. This means you may count on a front-wheel-drive SUV, which means you shouldn’t expect a too sporty driving experience. This crossover is more about a calm and relaxing ride and it delivers it in a pretty nice fashion.
As we are talking about the second production year, it’s quite obvious that there are no significant changes. The recent redesign has brought a completely new styling, which follows the brand’s latest design language, characterized by a nice mix of sharp and round lines. That’s why we presume that the 2022 Buick Envision could only bring minor updates such as new color options and similar things.
From the inside, you may expect the same thing. This crossover won’t feature any bigger changes, though there are few subtle but nice novelties. For example, the Sport Touring package on Preferred and Essence models comes with aluminum-covered pedals and new “ST” stitching on headrests and floor mats. Furthermore, there is also new red stitching for the seats.
Other than that, things will remain pretty much the same. This crossover looks nice from the inside, though the level of quality isn’t on par with premium rivals. It’s rather comparable with high-end mainstream models like Mazda CX-5 or the new Hyundai Tuscon. On the other hand, the amount of passenger space is really generous in both rows of seats.
The cargo area also offers a lot of space. You may count on about 25.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 52.7 cubic feet with these seats folded. Those are pretty good numbers for the class.
When it comes to standard equipment, all base models will come with goodies like keyless entry, push-button start, an 8-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Additionally, you can get upgrades like dual-zone climate control, remote start, a 10.2-inch touch screen, navigation, HD Radio, seven- and nine-speaker stereos, and a smartphone charging pad.
When it comes to safety, all models come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights etc. Additionally, you can get upgrades like front parking sensors, a rearview mirror with an integrated camera display, a surround-view parking camera system, a head-up display, and adaptive cruise control.
2022 Buick Envision Engine
This aspect won’t bring changes either. So, the 2022 Buick Envision will continue with just one engine option on the offer. That’s a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 228 horsepower and 258 horsepower. That’s the amount of power that provides more than decent performances. Most drivers will be happy with this power, as well as with a pretty decent 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty fine job.
Besides a solid amount of power, this engine also delivers a pretty impressive fuel economy. You may count on about 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, which are some of the best ratings in the class. Models with all-wheel drive are slightly thirstier and return around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
2022 Buick Envision Release Date and Price
The 2022 Buick Envision is already available in most markets and comes with a sticker price of around 32.000 dollars. The competition includes various models, both with premium and mainstream badges. Some that come to mind first are higher grades of Mazda CX-5, lower-grade variants of Acura RDX, Infiniti QX50 etc.
