After the last year’s full redesign, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Chevy Suburban will continue without more significant changes. It will represent the second production year and that usually means no notable updates. We count on the same overall layout, though there is always a chance to see minor updates, such as new color options, additions to the list of standard equipment and similar things. Other than that, you may count on the same design and features.
You may count on a huge SUV that accommodates eight passengers with ease. It also features one of the biggest cargo areas among all SUVs. Furthermore, there is a nice powertrain choice, while the list of standard and available equipment is pretty long as well. We also like its infotainment system, which is pretty easy to use.
As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Chevy Suburban will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2022 Chevy Suburban Redesign
The 2022 Chevy Suburban will represent the second production year of the current generation. Therefore, it’s hard to believe it could come with any notable novelty. The base layout will certainly remain the same. The recent redesign has brought a lot of new things, starting from a new T1 platform. Compared to the previous generation, the new model is notably lighter and more efficient. Moreover, it comes standard with independent rear suspension, which has a pretty big impact on the overall ride quality.
Styling-wise, there is always a chance to see new colors on the offer. However, the overall look will certainly remain the same. The new generation takes a lot of inspiration from the Silverado pickup, particularly at the front. The whole SUV looks pretty attractive and we have no doubt it will remain fresh for several more years.
Changes on the inside aren’t expected either and that’s not a bad thing at all. This cabin looks way better than the one in the previous generation. The design is clean and comes with classic design solutions mostly. Also, a large infotainment screen on the center stack makes it look very modern. We can’t find any bigger complaints regarding overall quality. Materials are nice, as well as the build quality. Still, keep in mind that this isn’t a luxury SUV, so don’t expect the Escalade-level of premium feel.
When it comes to interior space, this is probably the best SUV you can find on the market, along with its corporal sibling – GMC Yukon XL. Three rows of seats are standard and they all accommodate adult passengers with ease. Also, you may count on class-leading numbers in terms of cargo volume. You may count on 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 93.8 cubic feet with these seats folded, and 144.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
As we’ve just mentioned, there is a chance to see a couple of new features on the list of standard equipment. However, most of the things will remain the same as in the current model, which already comes with a pretty long list of features. It comes standard with goodies like a 10.2-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, eight USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, satellite radio, six speakers, keyless entry, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, two 120-volt household-style power outlets, and a manual liftgate. Additionally, you can get goodies like a sunroof, hands-free power liftgate, a navigation system, nine- and 10-speaker stereos, wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch touch screens.
When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights etc.
2022 Chevy Suburban Engines
You may count on three familiar engine options on the offer for the next year. Base models will continue with a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. For those who are looking for something more capable, there is also a bigger 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there is a diesel version, equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which is good for 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty good job.
2022 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price
The 2022 Chevy Suburban won’t come with any notable changes, so we are pretty sure it won’t come before the last quarter of the year. Price changes shouldn’t happen either. So, base versions will probably cost around 52.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Ford Expedition Max and Toyota Sequoia, as well as premium SUVs like Lincoln Navigator L, Cadillac Escalade etc.
